Give Some Credit To DePaul..

0 like 0 dislike
This was not a great game by the Cards at all but you have to give a little credit to DePaul for how they played this game. They scrapped, didn't give up, and played their hearts out against the Cards today. They had some big shots fall their way and they stayed in it until the OT.

DePaul gave UofL their very best shot but the Cards withstood it and still rallied to win. I'm proud they didn't fold either.

They are what 2 and 12 in the Big east and on a 5 game losing streak. They are not very good but if it makes you feel better, I can't believe they aren't ranked.

Oliver Purnell is a good coach. Depaul will be better in the coming years.

For what it's worth, Depaul lost by 8 to two other teams, Georgetown and at ND.

And by 8 to Cincy. However, we wouldn't want facts to get in the way of a whine session.

Lol. No, I didn't make this thread to "make me feel better" because I don't need to. The Cards won on the road- THAT makes me happy. It wasn't a pretty win, but whether you win by 1 or 40 a WIN is a WIN.

We had more fans than they did, not a typical hostile environment. We did not play well, period.

Don't pay any attention to the UK trolls Shadow, you are dead on with this thread.

Big Blew ass is ripe for kissing if that's what you desire.

What was the expectation? We haven't owned a game from start to finish but just a few times all year if that?

This game played out the same way the majority of the games have played out most of the year. If anything stands out it's the amount of three pointers we shot, that's about the only relatively different outcome that we saw today. This was a game we trailed, and ultimately won, like many others.

It was an obvious let down game and one of our best players had the Flu.

This is the same script we've seen just about the whole year.

Didnt make any difference if they came into the game 0-100

They are BE, and show BE pride. Theyre not going to lay down
and hand the CArds a win.

Coach Purnell, probably told them, to make them sorry Wayne
signed with the Cards.

100 point win or 1 point win

a win is a win is a win.

Btw,Shadow is spot on.They took the fight to us.I'd bet that seeing 4,000 Louisville fans in the stands juiced them up as much as us.

I truly feel bad for the Depaul players. They've been in a lot of games this season, only to let them slip away. If more local Chicago kids start to choose Depaul more often, the tide will eventually turn for them.

I agree with the OP. They hit numerous very diffivult shots, had to overcome 1 of the worst officiated games in recent memory, and an uncanny amount of bad bounces turning into points for depaul. Yjese last 2 games have exposed a weakness of the cards IMO- we have had trouble playing against teams with a real size advantage. UK, Syracuse, and depaul all were much taller on the front line and athletic as well.I thought depaul gave us more trouble than I expected at home. And then we add Kuric and blackshear and their 31 points and we barely pull out a win. I'd say today is no fluke, Depual's strength (Been a really long time since they've had any) is our apparent weakness. I'll take the win and move on.

Yeah, wiewie seems almost MAD that the Cards won today. Why would that be, I wonder? Btw, wiewie, is your favorite color blue?

Got to agree. I saw what he did in a bad situation at Dayton. He is a solid blue collar guy whose teams generally overachieve. Depaul's days as a weak sister in BB are numbered.

He is a terrific coach. No doubt about that. His calm demeanor on the sidelines stands out to me. He resonates a calm confidence and his players respond to it. His team is not overly talented and they lose a lot of games but he has them fighting, scratching, and clawing and that is a direct reflection of his leadership as a coach.

I am a huge Oliver Purnell fan. All he needs is for a couple of local kids like Blackshear and Davis to decide to stay home and then it's on.

Depaul will be a major player in BE basketball if they give Purnell enough time to make it happen.

UK fan logic. Uconn beat Depaul by 30, Louisville beat Uconn by 30. Louisville should beat Depaul by 60.

You have to give Depaul a ton of credit. Some of you guys really do not understand college basketball or just basketball in general. The Cards pulled out a very tough road win.
