Junior day and Muschamp just took advantage. All our commitments are from the state of Florida. Smart move by Muschamp.

Muschamp is buying time. Unless we can't get ANYTHING on the field for the next two years, I'm almost positive he gets a 4th year. If that's the case, we are fine.

Also, look at the sizes of these guys. Except for the running backs, every player is 6ft or more. We're getting bigger. This is very good.

Danny, you do understand that Emmitt Smith played at Florida at a weight of 195lbs? He ran low; had incredible periphile vision; and had great acceleration.

If Kelvin Taylor has half of those traits then he'll be a dynamic back.

Heighth is one thing, size is another. Some kids in need of some weight for sure. Then again, they are still juniors.

Space is right but Danny is too. I just want players though. LSU's starting ends were 235 and 240. They started backers at 215, 210, and 222. Mathieu was 5'8 175. When you look at our 06' and 08' teams, they weren't really all that big. Me...I don't care. Obviously there has to be a minimum size, like you can't have a 260 lb. o-lineman for example. But that's nitpicking anyway...this effort by Muschamp is incredible.

Whoa...noticed I excluded the backs. I'm fine with their size...though Adam Lane at 5'7" is a bit much.

And yes, size and height are two different things, but these guys already have the height and thyre what? 16 and 17? They'll grow into their bodies.

The fluctuation of size and weight from Junior to Senior year in HS is the biggest, I gained 30 lbs in the off season between in HS and then 12 more my first few months as a Freshmen in college. Course I was pretty thin being a 3 sport athlete in HS before I focused solely on football, the diets and workouts they put you on at big time programs are serious. They map out your meals and watch you eat them and make your protein drinks after workouts and make you drink them down after workouts and practice. I imagine it is exactly the same with our program

It great to see the coaching staff's hard work producing dividends. Now it is time to see the same effort producing results on the field. The honeymoon is over.

This really is the key. Muschamp continues to demonstrate he is an excellent recruiter. Now we have to win games. All indications are that the defense will be string again next year and hopefully Pease will get the offense going

Yeah, I noted the fact they are juniors. Just my inner struggle with the move from pure speed to imposing size. Hopefully with Pease we can get a little of both.

And as for Lane, I wonder about him as well, but obviously their is something our coaches really like about him.

To Muschamps credit I love the Mack Brown/Jim Tressel strategy of locking down your own state and doing it early. Let Jimbo star chase and see the lack of depth he ends up with.

Being fast doesn't mean anything when you can't play the game.

And besides, isn't that what the SEC is all about? Being big AND fast?

I want a LBer that can stuff the run game. Not one that's fast enough to chase the RB back down because he doesn't have a nose for the ball and thus the play got past him.

Agree with you on LSU's DE's. Mingo is an absolute freak of nature and Montgomery is no slouch either. In a 4-3, you can have smallish but speedy DE's if you have a strong inside presence with your tackles and LSU had that. In the 3-4, you must have bigger DE's but you have a Jack LB who plays with his hand in the dirt as often as not. Ideally your Jack will have the same size and speed Mingo has and imo he would be even more effective as a Jack in the 3-4.

LSU's LB's we're the weak link of their D though....at least imo. They weren't bad by any stretch but not as special as the guys around them. They had good speed but they also got manhandled vs a power rushing game.

1) Wesley....that is the worst sig of all time. OF ALL TIME!!
2) Coach Boom is impressing me on the recruiting trail, and I love his defense. If he gets the offense figured out, we might really be onto something special here...

The reason I am not a pure size fan is because last year when CM left and Shazier changed wveryone dismissed the loss because he was just a "fast guy without size" and he was a complete badass as a true frosh this year, so just as speed requires talent, so does size

And this is why I think Pease was an excellent choice...its all about the system, not the number of * next to the player's names. At Boise they put together an exciting offense that was able at times to compete with the big boys without any top ranked recruiting classes. This means they are really good at teaching, and getting guys to buy in. They do that here, with the resources available, and the defense to back them up, and the sky is the limit. The way I see it, it really all comes down to being able to develop a QB.

Do you think Pease will run the Boise singleback, pass to set up the run offense?
