Supposedly, there may be another one still to come. Half our class is done in the middle of February.

I get text alerts when we get a commitment...seemed like my phone wouldn't shut up, in a good way.

Sadly, there will be some whiners...the networks penalize early commits...meaning some of these kids won't be ranked as high as if they waited until December. I don't GAS, but just be forewarned that there will be some complaining by mid-summer.

Looks like you guys are off to a great start. Anybody who beats Emmitt's yards-gained record must be something special. Worse for us, seeing him will bring back memories of how his dad carved us up many years ago.

He is a different type of runner than his dad, but its the type of runner we haven't had here in a while.

Whatever style he employs, it must be effective.

As much as the Nole faithful feel some perverse pleasure when the Gators are down (and vice versa I'm sure), I would love to see both of us get back to the point where our games are a guaranteed ESPN Game Day affair. Maybe we're getting there.

The only complaint should be if we end

The only complaint should be if we end up with another class heavy on defense. It's trending that way currently but with a year til signing day, that doesn't mean much.

Yea I can't remember a haul like this since I've been following. Though admittedly I don't really follow until around December. I typically pick a few guys at positions I've played and watch them but that's about it. That said, I still don't remember a haul like this.

And BBB I disagree people will whine if its heavy on defense. You can never have enough there. I think a lot of people were just disappointed how we closed this past class on offense because that was our area of greatest need and we bombed miserably. I don't care about the stars, but the numbers were lacking. 1 back and 2 receivers, ugh. But I'm not complaining, hard to do that with this effort.

We will be just fine, that defense is growing more dominate for the future by the day and that is what wins the rings in this conference. We got two good QB's that need a little more experience and good players coming in at a lot of spots. Excited to see the team play next year and grow, We will be better than many people think.

I don't look as much D to O because right now we (led by DJ Durkin) are making a haul at LB, which is very much a position of need. My one concern is the DBs, we simply seem overloaded while OL seems to be way under.

Oozie, we brought in a RB, 2 WRs, 2 TEs, 2 OL and a QB.

All in all, that's not bad. We missed on some guys and parted with one back, but it was also a big defensive year.

It will probably always lean to defensive side under Muschamp, with that being his expertise. But if we stay top 5, I'm OK with it. I don't think we will see as many O recuits til later anyways, with new O coaches still getting set up, and skill position guys are more likely to opt for drama on signing day as well.

Thats why closing is over rated, get them early.

The clear misses were on the OL aND rb. All last year we listened to how we had to get stronger on the lines to compete in the SEC. And while the OL we did sign were top notch, we clearly did not add the depth we needed. We also missed on a RB (parted ways with) which was the more talented of the two. One RB leaves us thin in that area. One of the two WR was a plan B guy. The Defensive however was a haul. But when less than 35% of you class is offensive, and offense was your OBVIOUS weakness, people have a right to show some concern. You said it yourself in the other post, CWM is clearly looking to get enough O to buy himself a little extra time. It is clear our offense will struggle for at least one more year, if not two. So for people to be a little critical is to be expected.

I understand the RB situation a bit more, now the Taylor has made it official. I mean, who wants to say they were the next Octavious Gould?

You do understand that you don't get everyone you want, right?

If you would like Champ to take players simply for numbers sake, then sure, that could be done.

I don't like wasting scholarships on players that way.

Please being looking at the sport in more than one, possibly two angles. It will really help your perspective on the way things work.

I also understand schools like Wisconsin, Bama and Meatchicken find a way to get 4 to 5 OL in and many of the 3* pan out well.

I don't know who has the bigger OL concerns, you or us. First we hit the junior college ranks in hopes of putting a patch on our problem, now we're talking about moving people from the defensive line. Sure doesn't sound like Fisher is comfortable with our returning players.

An you realize that when those guys don't pan out , we all talk about the disappointment.

Anyone remember Carl Johnson? 5 star guy with all the talent? Never lived up to it.

I happens. Stop being so concerned. The depth is a myth. So many of the guys. Ever get on the field in any capacity.

Your problem is you OL coach. A large portion of players don't want to play for him.

A lot of Nole fans believe that. While we seem to have signed a lot of good OL kids a year ago, the coaches must not be sold on them or we wouldn't be looking to junior colleges and our own defense to solve the problem. We couldn't block our grandmas last year, and I'm not sure if we'll be much better this year. Other than that big unknown, I think we'll be pretty good.

He had the same problem at AU. We told you guys this when he was hired. He did a great job with Dye's kids and then their production fell off the charts. He is actually doing better for you guys than AU, so at least he is showing improvement. But, Not one single player recruited at AU under Trickett was drafted....not one. We had like 18 sacks against them the last two years of Tater Tot's tenure, and that line was a train wreck. People want to blame the probation, but that is BS. Tater Tot had a lot of players drafted, just nothing on the OL after Dye's kids gratuated.

I'd appreciate it if everyone would please stop telling the Noles that they have a crappy OL coach. At some point they are going to figure out that they have a crappy OL coach and get a better one.

No matter how thick the skull is, eventually you will get through it SO STOP TRYING ALREADY.

I agree with LG89. Dick Trickett should be in the CFB Hall of Fame.

Great idea to have a "junior day", and grab some early verbals. These things seem to have momentum...and if your staff is comfy with their talent evaluations...look for some more rather soon.

Oline is the hardest to predict. He might be 310 in high school going against 220 lbs kids, looks great till he meets 280 lbs kids.Patchen, Johnson has been the best we have goten last few years, yet Harrison, Kohne, Halapio seem better.

I gotta agree with that. I can't think of another position on the field where it is harder to evaluate who will do well at the college level than O line. You have kids that are just freakishly large at a young age, and they can look like all americans just by the fact that they have the size difference in high school. College is a different animal entirely, because everyone is freakishly large by comparison.

QB is pretty tough too. Lots of kids throw pretty passes, aren't challenged mentally in HS and hit a brick wall in college.
