OT: Falsely Claiming Military Service

0 like 0 dislike
Anyone ever met someone who does this? I'm pretty sure it's illegal, but I think if a person claims false military honors, they should be required by law to join the military until they actually earn that honor.

ie you lie about getting the medal of honor in Iraq, you go to the front lines until you DO earn one.

(ps I' not that hateful, just angry at the moment lol)

I guess 2/3 of the Corpse of Cadets should be forced to join up then. Especially since it's OK now to be serve AND be gay.

I don't believe it is a crime to falsely claim military service, but it is a crime to falsely claim to have been awarded the Medal of Honor. I believe that is true of some of the other high awards too. It is pretty despicable to claim to have served in the military when you have not, but that should probably be handled with severe public scorn and ridicule. I doubt that anyone on active duty would ever care to serve with someone that lied about any of those matters though.

2th DK beat me to it. Drives me crazy seeing the corps turds wearing an "old army" tshirt yet they will graduate and 9 out of 10 won't serve. More fun to play Army.. again, turds.

The aggy fake army corps turds are a joke. How ironic that you post this topic, when the corps is a fake military service with no affiliation whatsoever to the U.S. military. Its nothing more than an ROTC program, just like most other schools have, but aggy likes to think they're military. roll

Yeah I did see that, but $500 fine seemed light to me imo.

Claiming military honors is basically fraud. You're trying to claim events or deeds that haven't happened as having happened to you.

And yes, Longhorns, the majority of the Corps are just dorks. We get it. They've always been a joke to students on campus too.

I know some of you get hardons when the chance to make fun of the Corps comes up, but I was asking a serious question about people faking military service (regardless of where they went to college.)

And whether or not you agree with their personal fervor about what their participation in the Corps means, the CTs aren't really doing what many guys try to get away with:

About what specifically? I said that it was a crime to falsely claim to hold the Medal of Honor. As a former officer in the USAF I will stand by my assertion that few on active duty would care to serve with someone that has lied about such things.

Funny, I had a poster on here claim I falsely claimed military service. Apparently the bar here is higher than your word. I was asked to submit my DD214 to prove I served 20 years in the Air Force.

What's active duty have to do with it? Also, it is not about the MOH. That creep John "Fing" Kerry got wasted trying to pretend to be a hero by men of his own unit. People are tired of liars claiming military prowess. Study "Stolen Valor."

Did you check the link I left? The Supreme Court is involved in it now. Most of the people catching what they deserve are civilians claiming an false affiliation with some unit.

SEALS look pretty good these days ( killing the three Pirates with simultaneous headshots ship to boat and saving their captive in the boat -and, of course, killing bin Ladin ) so everybody claims SEALhood. Then they are destroyed by SEAL records - like the Aggie Administrator who just did it.

Dude! I have no problem with this. I think it's despicable to claim military service or honors that you have not earned. I have no problem with the Supreme Court being involved. When I was talking about the active duty military, it was in response to the OP. He suggested that maybe those people should be forced to serve until they actually earn the awards they claim. I was merely pointing out that it is an HONOR to wear the country's uniform and that active duty military people wouldn't care to serve with anyone with so little honor as to lie about something like that. I served this country for 6 years on active duty and I have no pity whatsoever for anyone that makes false claims about military service.

Since you brought it up I still don't believe you. I asked you to "SHOW" your DD Form 214, not submit it. The same way you showed your so called degree when called out by soonertulsan. I didn't really expect you to show it because I don't believe you served in the Air Force. Your dates didn't add up and then it got worse. You said you got orders to be a tech school instructor but you didn't put in for it. Those aren't orders that just pop up the way you claimed they did, you have to put in for that. And you made it clear that you didn't put in for it. It's a special duty assignment, YOU LIED. It's really that simple. Remember, you brought it back up.

I was given orders in 1994 to be a Tech School instructor after earning my CCAF degree on the way to my bachelors. Look it up, many were tagged that year due to CCAF degree. You look silly for doubting.

There are only three MoH recipients (out of 83) below the age of 60, so MoH would not be the best choice for a stolen valor. Agree that there are probably ten times the number of wannabee's claiming, than the actual number of SEAL, special forces and CIA operatives. The real ones are usually the silent type as far as I can tell from the few I've met. Very interested to see the Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of this law.

Had the chance to meet John Levitow, the MOH recipient for the Air Force. He was an A1C loadmaster during Vietnam. The top award during PME school was named after him.

Cannot be illegal to lie about serving in the military in a purely social context. First Amendment isues would arise if we tried to prohibit lying. And 99% of our federal employees/elected politicians would do time.

If you do so for personal financial gain (i.e., in a commercial context) or to get someone to do something they would otherwise not do, then it is fraud.

Solid logic there. I know I would sleep better at night knowing that my country is being defended by people who were only in the military because they initially lied about being in the military.

I served 20 years, three weeks and a day in the USAF, both as enlisted and officer--it was three weeks and a day too long, but that's beside the point. After reading Jagged Horn's 'wordspeak', there is no doubt in my mind that he served. He talks in blue--get a grip.

Thanks 2th DK. I'm not sure why he thinks I have to prove myself to hiim. I could tell him what I told young airmen, "run your nose down my sleeve and tell me how many times your nose bumps a stripe, that's my rank". I also served over 20 years (almost 21) between active duty and National Guard.

Thanks for your service.

Yeah, I guess I'm wishing there's a way to make them serve, without endangering real soldiers......obviously they're wanting the glory without putting the effort (and their lives) on the line.

Obviously, not a realistic solution. Just hate to hear about it is all. Mad

1. Who cares who served and who did not. You guys need to be DRAFTED and have to serve with a letter from someone like Nixon saying you have to go ...not you want to go.

2. False claims...I would bet you could step into ANY Amvets or VFW and someone is going to say they did 6 tours in Vietnam or Iraq on the front lines and they were really just a cook in the military.

3. Medal of Honor-Some have made false claims about winning one I am sure but who cares ? They usually get found out.

4. The Corps is a frat at Aggieland. I know a ton of their former members and they all suck ass, flash their rings, brag about how tough they are, and it is all frat BS...that and some of them are gay. I know one that just died that looked better in a dress than in a Corps uniform. He was totally gay. I would hate to drop the soap in his barracks.

Lots of people still get orders to be instructors when they get their CCAF. I can't imagine the great majority of instructors at Sheppard actually volunteered to go to that sh*thole! Think I'd rather do 3 years in Kunsan.

The coldest I ever was, was marching on the flight line at Sheppard a long, long time ago. If you did three years at Kunsan, it means you would have extended twice!sleepy

2thdk,

Shut up fella, he deleted every post I made that exposed him. He has continued to change his story after he googled a few things. He messed up when he said he never received training for it, he claimed he got orders and went straight there to train airmen. There is a reason he erased all those post. He got caught up in his own lies.

But he never said that in our first disussion...which is why I said he googled it. But he he said he didn't do any training for it himself, and this was the first discussion we had about it. Right before he lied about being a first sergeant. His time line he put out didn't come close to adding up. He is a fraud.

Be nice--I don't tell other Horn fans to shut up. Just let it go, brother. We'll never know for sure, and it doesn't impact your life one way or the other. Folks know the truth when they look at themselves every day in the mirror when they shave and deal with it. Lying about the Air Force? That's like lying about being in the Cub Scouts! I served there, too,by the way, rising to the rank of Webelos.

Apparently blh111 is the Air Force credentials police. I don't owe him sh!t.

If I were going to lie, wouldnt I claim to be a fighter pilot? Or at least enlisted air crew? Why would I lie about being 2A571J? Or a First Sergeant?

Jagged you got caught up in your lies and quickly deleted all those post for a reason. You were exposed. You're jobea. He would also delete post when put to shame.

Blh, don't you think it's possible you don't know everything about what y'all are discussing? I think you'd have to be pretty sick to go to the lengths you claims he's going to in order to try and prove he was in the air force (claiming he googled it to get his facts right, come on). Maybe I'm wrong, I wasn't in the armed forces, but the smell test here tells me jagged is probably telling the truth.

He loves to argue. I called him out for a thread he posted on a while back where he was claiming Austin PD was racist. It turned into an "all cops are racist" type rant. Not sure how somebody who supposedly served in the military could feel that way about authority.

He then claimed I said I adopted a black family or some such nonsense. Frankly hes a few bricks short of a full load.

Serious question.... Who are you to run around and question people?

I don't seem to remember voting you into any position of importance. You have a bad habit of discounting people's word, and calling them liars, just because you don't like them or disagree with them.

You really need to learn to f***ing relax.

After reading and rereading this - you sure as hell sound like a bitter and dejected aggy/sooner fan. Who the f*ck are you anyways? Were you appointed King of Facts on the innerwebb? Have you sworn to a higher power to eradicate all erronious facts?

You talk out of your a$$ a lot. You flame... both on the boards and in real life. ;) You attack other Horn posters and suckle at the teets of the enemy.... are you a self loathing undercover Benedict Arnold? I'm just trying to get a feel for your rantings.... Seriously bro, slow down on the posts, they make you look like a fool. You were quick to bring up past posts in regards to what others say, but have you ever stopped to think what YOUR past posts look like or say?

Maybe you should focus on your own issues before you have a stroke....or are you just that upset that ohsfan is gone?
