Yeah, I just hate that first and second round location. That might be an excuse, but it makes it harder to get a fan presence at the game for our guys. Guess I'll start looking at ticket prices for Portland and Albuquerque, my gut tells me we'll end up in one of those pods

How the *BLEEP* would sending us to PORTLAND as the highest seed in our pod with UNLV and Arizona be fair?

Can anyone explain why/how we would end up in that location? The one thing I have never really understood is how the committee picks these locations. How FSU could end up being a 4 seed and not end up in Nashville is simply baffling to me. How is this advantageous for us? So for having a great year, the committee would say "Congrats FSU now you get to travel accross the country to play your 1st and 2nd round games." How is that a reward?

The west coast being down again will ensure some top 4 seeds will be going out west.

Exactly, in this projection Lunardi has Wisconsin in Portland as well, and UF going to Albuquerque. Louisville is in Nashville, which makes the most sense geographically since they won't be playing in Columbus, and aren't allowed to play at home since it is a host site.

Then there are other variables such as who the matching 5/12 match up is. Basically, there are no good options the way the teams are currently laid out. We need Louisville to go down, or us to go up.

He is not on the committee, some of you need to relax. He has no clue where we would actually be placed come Selection Sunday. As a 4 seed, most likely we could be sent to Nashville in the South Region. I'm happy wherever they send us. To me location is not that big of a deal, I care or am concerned about matchups. Lunardi is more or less throwing darts against a board when he slots his teams. He doesn't care about region/location, just the teams he thinks will make the Dance.

First things first, we need to finish the season strong and forget about seeding, rankings, etc. I think we're defenitely in at this point due to the weak bubble and how many good teams we've beaten this year already. However, there is no excuse not to finish this season with a bang. We have a team full of upperclassmen and now guys who want to take that shot when the game is on the line. Have to show up and crush Duke on Thursday. Need to send that message that we're taking over the ACC. No more a two-headed monster, now it needs to be a three-headed monster.

Seeding doesn't matter right now, just get hot and stay hot. Then everything else will fall into place.

I understand that but if that's the case don't effing send us out west to play against west coast teams also. Send some other lower seeded east coast teams to suffer with us :P

I'm more concerned about seeing Michigan State in the Sweet 16. That's a team built for the Final Four right there, folks, and Izzo is the best in business come March. We REALLY need to move up to a 3 seed or fall to a 6.

Agreed. I would definitely rather be in Missouri's region.

I think we need to relax and worry about this when we know for sure.

We could win the next 7 games and move up to a 3or maybe a 2, but until we know for sure, getting all worked up about it is foolish.

Yet, it is nice to see us not be on the bubble!

That would call for a Cat 5 maintain in all likelihood.

Since I'm going to the Nashville region, my team goal for the rest of the season is to pass Louisville in seeding so that we can snag a spot in Music City. I would think we would have a fairly strong fan turnout there.
Related to Ohio State not playing in Columbus, are they allowed to play there since it isn't their home court? I know some projections earlier in the season had Vanderbilt playing in Nashville; the Louisville games are at the Yum Arena where the Cards play, so they wouldn't be allowed to play there.

The Host Team can not play in their city, and no team can play on their own court. The Host for Nashville is the OVC, not Vandy. It also is not being played in their gym.

We would have to be higher than Florida AND Louisville to get into Nashville. If you look at his bracketology, Florida is higher than us because ABQ is closer to them than Portland. There is just no good West Coast teams, so there probably will be a 4 seed out west.

The Atlanta region is an interesting thing. Assuming UNC and Duke are seeded higher than us, they would have to miss out on ATL because the first three seeds from the same conference get assigned to different regions. This could happen if MSU and OSU are 2 seeds AHEAD of UNC and Duke. They would get St. Louis and Atlanta, UNC and Duke would get shifted to Boston/Phoenix, and we would be pretty assured of Atlanta.

Thanks for the info, I knew the OVC was hosting the Nashville "region", it kind of makes you wonder why a school like Ohio State wouldn't have tried to find another entity (Big 10? MAC?) to be the official "host" for the Columbus games, since they are being played at Nationwide, to afford them an opportunity to play there.
I'm definitely interested in seeing how things play out, and you're right, we need to leapfrog both Louisville and UF to get "preferred" status in our regional site. Let's win out and snag a 3 seed!

BAV,

Thanks for the info. I know Lunardi is not on the committee and that wasn't my point. I simply wanted to understand how locations are determined and that helped tremendously.

The only thing I see as a possible switch is with Michigan and Notre Dame pod on this bracket. FSU will probably have to get to a 3 to avoid going out west or pass UNC/Duke.
