New offensive sets

0 like 0 dislike
We've clamored for it all season, and it looks like Saturday we actually saw it.There were a few wrinkles added to the offense, with double screens being set at various spots on the floor to shake RSmith,CSmith and KK loose.

To me,it signals that CP realizes that Siva's foul troubles could put us on the sidelines watching and he has adjusted to it.Personally,I'd love to see these new sets mixed in with the pick n roll, keep the defenses off balance.

Pretty good article by Crawford on it in Sunday's paper.

I agree and it was very nice to see these new offensive sets finally put into use. The team was down by so much and was just a hair's breadth from being blown out (down 17) that CRP had to do something.

I would like to see more of this going forward and like you said is especially useful when Siva is out with foul trouble.

I congratulate Rick and the staff for putting in a 2nd and 3rd offensive set a mere 27 games into the season. Didn't denny used to invent shit like that during timeouts?

This is a very valid point. Why not sooner? Still I guess late is better than never in this case.

Well,to all the Pitino bashers,I didn't create the thread to pat him on the back, but it is beter late than never.

It's not like we don't understand the guy's stubborness. If it works out in the long run, that's all I really care about.

It's even more impressive when you consider the stupid amount of injuries this team has suffered this year. I can only dream of how much better the record would have been with Marra, Van Treese, Buckles, and Blackshear the entire season. Chances are strong this team would have been in the top 3 if they had all their players.

How about this: Pitino isn't a washed up doofus who got here with luck and talent alone. He also isn't a basketball god, incapable of making mistakes and above being second guessed. He is a coach--just a guy who sometimes does some very baffling things that some of us like to discuss here.
