FSU No. 16 in Coaches Poll and No. 15 in AP Poll

0 like 0 dislike
FSU moved up to No. 16 in the new Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the new AP Poll. The 'Noles were ranked No. 21 in the Coaches Poll last week and No. 20 in the AP Poll, so they essentially moved up five spots in each poll this week.

If we can beat Duke again this Thursday, how many spots do you think that victory alone is worth? Maybe 2-3 spots? If we can also beat Miami again on Sunday, what are the chances we could crack into the Top 10? Slim-to-none, or better than that? I'm wondering how much the three bad losses to BC and the Ive League will continue to hold us back even if we continue winning?

How many times does it have to be said that Harvard isn't a bad loss before people will start grasping it?

Depends on what others ahead of us do.

As for what's holding us back, it would be much more appropriate to say our losses to Princeton, BC, and Clemson are holding us back. Harvard isn't a bad loss on a neutral court.

Harvard wasn't mentioned anywhere in his post. He's obviously talking about Princeton so please get all the sand out of your panties.

No, he said "3 bad losses to BC and the Ivy League." That would mean, BC, Princeton, and Harvard.

Princeton is turning out to not be a bad loss either. Top 100 RPI team right now. Will likely finish in the top 100

Success in the NCAA Tournament will depend on the seed and region. Seeding for FSU will be affected by Duke and UNC as they likely will go to the East and South Regions (whether a 1 or 2 or even 3 seed). This will mean FSU goes to the Midwest or West Region to avoid the top three ACC teams being in the same region. Possibly the best case situation for FSU would be a 3 seed, however, unless FSU wins out both the regular season and the ACC tournament that will not happen.

For FSU to make it past the Elite 8 and into the Final 4 the best shot is being a 4 or 5 seed as they would have to beat #1 seed then play the #2/#3 winner (barring other upsets). The other alternative would #6 seed but FSU would have to beat the #3 then #2 then #1.

Seeded as a #5 or #4 - first round vs # 12 or 13, then vs #4/5 then vs #1 then vs # 2 (barring other upsets)

Seeded as a #6 team - #6 vs #11 then #6 vs #3 then #6 vs #2 and finally #6 vs #1 = birth in Final 4.

I know it was like a math word problem but you could do better. 3 losses, Ivy League and only one other team mentioned.........

They ended up being a top 25 team. That was in November in the Bahamas in a preseason tourney. Just stop guy. Get a clue. When people refer to bad losses on your tourney res they NEVER include RANKED teams. 8-16 BC? Bad loss. Open your eyes.

Wrong! Three bad losses to BC and the ivy league. He left off Clemson. Reading comprehension is fundamental.

The ranking is nice and FSU could move up with big W vs Duke.
Or FSU could fall out of the top 25 with a couple losses and we have some tough opponents coming up.

Would college BB want the ACC's clear cut winner not a top 10 team going into March? I don't know BB enough to answer that but I suspect the answer would be no.

Guys, you're right, the Ivy losses may well no longer be bad losses, although they were somewhat unexpected losses at the time that they each occurred, and Clemson is now seen to be the worst of our losses after BC. I could've thought that through to a more accurate statement, but what I was really going for was the effect of our bad losses holding us back, as they usually do to all teams, and what our potential outcome might be. Sorry to cause an uproar over something that wasn't the main point of the post, but I was inaccurate. Please forgive my lack of clarity.
