Princeton may not end up being a bad loss after all

Currently a top 100 RPI Team. They will likely finish in the low 90s or high 80s.
Boston College (218) and Clemson (158) are our only bad losses this year.

That's the issue I have with the loss, and why I consider it a "bad" loss regardless of whether it's a top 100 RPI loss or not. I could have dealt better with it on the road or neutral court even, but to lose to them at home really hurt. Hard to believe that might be our only home loss this year if we win our last 2 home games. Kudos to the team for playing a great 2nd half of the season. Let's keep our feet on the gas and keep rolling along! Go NOLES!!

I can deal with the BC loss (as terrible as they are) as it was one of those freakish things where every well-defended 3 they jacked up went in. It was almost funny.
The Princeton loss OTOH, we had 3 overtimes to take that game, on our home court, and we still couldn't put them away.

Nightmare scenario-FSU gets a 4 or 5 seed and plays a #12-13 seed Ivy League team. Yikes.

Well the good thing is that I believe the selection committee does not schedule rematches in the first round. So hopefully we will not have to play that type of team.

"Bad losses" aren't determined by how much it hurts your feelings. The phrase has a meaning in college basketball, and that isn't it.

If they hadn't beaten FSU, (a currently ranked team that's #1 in the ACC) how much different would their RPI be?

That is encouraging but more upset at the 10 point half. Embarrassing.

The thing that affects their RPI is the fact that they got a road win, which counts as 1.4 wins. The fact that we are ranked, or number 1 in the ACC, or even good at all, has no bearing on the credit they get for the win.
If they lost to us, but won at Siena the game before us, their RPI would be exactly the same.
Wow, the RPI is really misunderstood by the masses isn't it? This isn't a flame at you, there have been hundreds of other posts that say essentially the same thing over the years. But if it's this misunderstood, you wonder if even the people selecting the teams understands it?

I have a feeling the people on the committee understand it better than people here. Especially those that think that a team's entire respectable RPI is based on one win over us.
