Pretty acurate take:

I gotta be honest I'm not sure why they are creaming themeselves over on gig'em. Other than the fact that they are filling up rather quickly, they are doing exactly what they have been doing. Which is fill up with (7) 3 stars, 3 or 4 kids who no one has even heard of, 2 BAMF one of which is the 2nd best WR in the country with 4 offers (

By the time rankings are done of the 13 commits we have so far I bet at least 7 are 4 stars. Gibson is severly underrated and will shoot up the rankings if he can show productivity his SR year.

"if he can show productivity his SR year" You can probably say that for 50 to 100 other players.

You always have Liucci's other worldly rankings to jizz to.

Very good class for the aggys so far. Here's my breakdown. Of these 13, I'd say 8 are very good players (in bold). The other 5 look like Sherm specials. Golden, Gustafson and Wilson are all great line pickups who UT would've offered in a heartbeat (although I would be wary of Wilson switching to LSU). Griffin is a grade risk but very good. OU and UT were eyeing Huggins. Lacouture looks to be a player. Same with Kohl Stewart (he's in OU's top 5 at QB). James White is a player.

J.J. Gustafson, OT - 4 stars, too many offers to list

Joas Aguilar, OT - 0 stars, no other offers

Victor Davis, DB - 0 stars, OSU, Tulsa

Jamar Gibson, WR - 0 stars, no other offers

Isaiah Golden, DT - 4 stars, Baylor, OU, TCU

Derrick Griffin, WR - 4 stars, Baylor, ND, OU

Kerrick Huggins, DT - 4 stars, Colo St., SMU, Tech

Johnny Jefferson, RB - 0 stars, ND, UCLA

Christian Lacouture, DE - 0 stars, Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Mizzou, Tech

Kohl Stewart, QB - 4 stars, Ole Miss, ND, SMU

James White, RB - 0 stars, Auburn, Baylor, Tech

Jonathan Wiggins, S - 0 stars, Utah

Ishmael Wilson, OG - 4 stars, Baylor, Cal, Ill, Michigan, Nebraska, Vandy

Lmao, everyone in the state knows Gibson, he got a new coach that ran an option offense, its my understanding that he transfferred to a different school which is why I said if he shows improved production.

Gibson, Davis and Aguilar are not Sherman specials by any means and all could end up 4 stars by the time its all said and done. BTW... a few Sherman specials were Terrence Fredricks, Sean Porter, Trent Hunter, Ryan Swoope, and SHep Klinkle.

I agree about Gibson. But considering he's still wanting to take visits and says he guesses he's still committed to A&M, we'll see if you guys hold on to him. You have a lot of question marks in your top commits. Will Griffin qualify? Will Stewart play baseball? Will Wilson and Gibson stick to their commitments?

I concur, especially with Wilson. I won't count him as an aggy commit until LSU offers. I wouldn't be surprised to see East Texas Golden go to Baton Rouge either with an offer.

You don't know anything about the aggy class until February. These players could be place holders.

Seems that rather than going after the elite, they are going for the solid mid 3 stars so they don't miss out and have to settle for a bunch of 2-3 star talent.

When they fall flat on their face next year. It will be tough to hold onto this class.

All those players played on teams who went 25-25 under ShermWOW! They were "special."

BTW, Shep Klinke (not Klinkle) was rated a 4-star coming out of HS. Not sure how he was a ShermWOW!(25-25) special....

We have the two top pure offensives tackles in Wilson and gustafason. And a mean nasty og whose tape just came out and its really good. Heaven forbid ketch hasn't heard of him yet. We also have the top wry in Texas don't give me this he isn't going to qualify, he still has over a year to get it sorted out. The top prostyle Qb in Texas, one of the top 3 rbs in white, 2 of the top 4 dts. The db's are owknown but have great measureables and ones was hurt last year so very little tape.

First time checking out Orangebloods as an Aggie. Just wanted to hear the "other side's" opinion of our class. I think Texas is big enough with talent to support Texas and A&M. Strange how so many Texas fans feel A&M will never compete in the SEC. I understand wishful thinking but A&M will one day compete... it may take many years but the school has the resources and fanbase to be a consistent top 20 program (notice that I didn't say SEC powerhouse). 2 bad hires will set you back a decade and older Texas fans knows what bad coaching hires can do to a great football program. A&M has a great class so far so I am not sure why you guys think it is the same as previous years. Luicci is very honest about the great pickups you guys have and unlike what some have portrayed doesn't drop horn commits in his rankings. I do think Ag commits tend to rise a bit but I think Ketch is far more guilty of this practice than Luicci (JMHO). Alot can change in the next year but to say the A&M class is nothing to be excited about for Aggie fans is simply not being objective in your point of view. I encourage you to look through an unbiased national perspective and give A&M it's due... I personally feel that Texas and A&M both finish with Top 10 classes. A great accomplishment for both of us considering the record for Texas the last 2 years and the coaching change for A&M.

On a side note, you guys should ignore some of the crazy opinions on the free part of texags... the paid part of the site is the refuge for much more intelligent debate. Most Ags on the paid side feel Texas has some great players and finish with a Top 5 class. Ags just want to get our piece of the state and we will be fine.

Take care.

Nothing wrong with healthy competition, works out for everyone.

Keep in mind that LSU, 'bama, and Auburn are the worst sort of pay for play cheatin' programs, and it seems like it taints the whole conference. You might want to send some coaches up to okie and get a few tips from the experts, before wading into the cesspool.

Good luck, and make us proud, little brother!

The Birmingham News came out with a study showing Big 12 teams have been put on probation as much or almost as much as the SEC as an entire conference. Of course, this was back before Colorado, Nebraska, A&M, and Mizzou left the Big 12 and both conferences had an equal number of teams. Colt McCoy's own wife told an Ohio radio station as recently as last year that Texas cheats. Of course, nobody hates on the Big 12 because the conference rarely wins anything on a national level while the SEC has won the national title the last 6 years in a row...which is the reason everybody hates on the SEC, including the Texas posters on this board

Fair enough. I personally believe it isn't the recruiting tactics that make the SEC the best. I believe it is the style of play and week in week out competition that makes them better. Take Texas for example. If Texas was forced to play in the SEC, they would have the talent, no doubt, but in time they would adjust to the style of play and improve throughout the year due to the competition to be a much more prepared team by year end. Instead, the B12 style of play makes it harder for Texas to develop it's talent to compete with SEC teams in BCS bowl games (all conferences have this problem). Take South Carolina for example... they don't have the talent that Texas does but competes well in the SEC b/c they have had to make adjustments to be competitive. If Texas joined A&M in the SEC, Texas may not win as many conference championships in the SEC but on the years that they did win, they would have the team developed enough to win the whole thing (hence the reason the SEC's best team keeps winning the championship).

I also think OU, OSU, Arkansas and LSU will suffer most from A&M entering the SEC (not Texas). More talent that would have left the state will stay with A&M instead (not that A&M will take talent from Texas). I don't see any reason why A&M can't be 3rd in the West consistently (assuming we have a good coach) even if LSU, bama, and auburn practice shady recruiting tactics.

Notredameaggsy, your memory is very short. Do you not recall last years aggsy (aggswagg) de-commit season?

Don't count on all those guys signing with atm. Same thing every year - atm is an insurance policy until something better comes along with quite a few recruits.

royalewithcheese,

A&M lost 3 players the last week.

Corey Thompson went to LSU: Everyone knew he wasn't firm on his Aggie commit... the only reason we thought he would stick was due to him being a legacy but it later came out that his Dad was not happy with A&M b/c he never graduated due to A&M pulling his schollie after his grades dropped.

Monroe went to Tulsa: This was a shocker for obvious reasons but after Sherman was fired he soured on A&M and liked the idea of just staying close to home. Tulsa was only a few miles from his home.

Addison went to Oregon: According to Bralon, he has wanted to be a sports journalist which A&M does not have as a major. Oregon told him that they had a Top 5 Journalism program (Bralon's own words in a tv interview) so he chose them. Oregon's journalism program isn't even Top 50 in the country. This is just based upon his own words... many have speculated that he had "other" reasons.

I would call Thompson the most likely to be a place holder but I think the better description is a legacy that really never wanted to go to A&M in the first place and it took him a long time to switch.

None of the 3 were waiting till the last week to get the offer they really wanted. They just switched... it happens. TCU, SMU, Baylor, Tech and even OSU get a lot of place holder commits. That is why Texas, A&M, OU, and LSU get so many to switch from these schools later in the process. A&M can be a place holder school for LSU when it comes to Louisiana kids. It is what it is... LSU has a stranglehold on that state.

The constant bitching and moaning about the SEC is all about jealousy. People from Texas calling any other dirty is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black anyway, because the state of Texas has always been one of the dirtiest areas in college athletics.

The SWC folded as a conference because of the rampant cheating that took place in that conference and it was almost entirely comprised of Texas schools. Street agents are also apparently rampant in the state of Texas today and it is not because of SEC schools. LSU and Arkansas are the only SEC schools that heavily recruit that state of Texas. It is more than likely schools from the state of Texas and schools from the Big 12 keeping these street agents in business in the state of Texas today

Constant? How often does a Longhorn fan start a thread on this board to bitch and moan about the SEC?

I'm guessing it's about 10X less often than you start a thread bitching and moaning about Texas. According to your own logic, you are 10X more jealous of Texas than we are (collectively) of the SEC.

I don't mind when Auburn, Florida, & Bama brag about the SEC. I just think it's funny when middle of the road teams stick out their chest about being middle of the pack of a really strong conference. Congratulations on sucking harder against better competition.

SEC! SEC! SEC!

On another note - the Aggies have 56 offers out. There were so many I had to start counting again 3 times.

Rivals 250 rankings:
Kent Perkins - 25 (Longhorn lean)
Jake Raulerson - 51 (Longhorn)
A'Shawn Robinson - 69 (Longhorn)
Darius James - 92 (Longhorn lean)
Ishmael Wilson - 143 (aggy)
JJ Gustafson - unranked (aggy)

They're both very good O linemen, don't get me wrong. I'd love to have both of them. But I don't know what you're basing your comment on if not complete bias. Kent Perkins is by far the best OT in the state. And heck, A'Shawn Robinson too depending on if he plays DT or not. Raulerson will probably start at DE and James is at OG but all 4 are better O linemen than Wilson and Gustafson. And Wilson is listed at OG. FYI.

Again, no you don't.

Ricky Seals-Jones - 13 (Longhorn lean)
Derrick Griffin - 19 (aggy)
Jake Oliver - 61 (Longhorn)
Ra'Shaad Samples - 191 (Longhorn lean)

Because you weren't an also ran in the Big XII? Yours is the wishful thinking, friend.

You've always had those advantages and haven't done anything with them. And it's only going to be harder for you now.

You have a very good class going so far. Let's see if you can hang onto it this time.

Dude, you've had these "resources" all along.....and it got you an average finish of 6th place for the entire existence of the BigXII. And a season or two where you actually finished ranked in the top25. Blame a bad hire or two if you want, but at the start of last season you guys were applauding Sherm as a hero.

With all those "resources" atm went 32-28 under Frannythetranny and 25-25 under Shermwow!!!

That's 4 games over .500 in the last glorious 9 years. Highlights were 0-77 and Sherms Arkie St loss:)

NO ONE DOES LESS WITH MORE THAN TEXAS atm
