National Higher Ed site exposes Cl3mson's good ole boy system

0 like 0 dislike
See the interesting article below from a respected national site on higher education. It exposes the outdated structure of Cl3mson's board.....having half its members appointed by other trustees essentially having no one to answer to. This was done originally to carry out the racist views of their founders but continues to this day with 10 of 13 board members being white male.

Why wont our own state media report on these things??????

Link: Pitchfork Ben would be proud

You can't argue against a TATER.

Tater Logic.. You can sit around one our board meetings all day an never know who the lifetime members.

Just like you watch a CU football game a never know who is calling the shots.. You can see who cheers the loudest, but whos making the calls..

I think Dabo was given credit for making the call in the orange bowl to go for Two while down 30 points... LOL.. WV responded with "How do you like these oranges"....another quick 6..

Clemson is the most privately run public school in the country.

Not to mention the trustees receiving lifetime appointments violates the State's Constitution.

Man if it was USC, the State paper, not to mention the NAACP, would have a weekly diatribe about how unconstitutional it is. But, since it's Cl3mp$in, all you hear are the crickets.

How terrible. I hate white people. They're the devil. Government affirmative action is the only way to pick the best PERSON for the job.

I have also heard there are more black people on the SC State University board of trustees than white people. Can we expect the same outrage from the liberals?

You may not like that a UNIVERSITY that represents themselves as such is supposed to generate well educated and rounded graduates but there IS a difference. A friend long ago went to Georgia Tech for engineering but took his humanities at Emory. Did not make him a better engineer, but a better member of society. That is the goal, right. Learning about European history gives me a frame of reference with our current administration. But who needs to know that crap right.

I went to PC, a liberal arts college. Had a double major and also took French along with attending over 80 CEPs, also known as cultural enrichment programs, that every PC grad can attest to, so I'm well versed in well roundedness, which probably isn't a word but I digress.

That said kids attend college to prepare themselves for the workforce. Anyone who says otherwise is full of it. Excuse my francais and pardon the pun, but that's the goal. Always has been always will be. The profs quote just proves he thinks more of himself and his elitism as a educator extroidinaire than what the true purpose of higher ed is intended to be.

This is truly a non-issue. The article is egg-headed intellectuals bitching because Clemson does not offer enough liberal arts degrees. Clemson is not depriving the citizens of this state (or country) the opportunity to a liberal arts education. It's an Ag & Mech school.

I have NO love for Clemson but I will not espouse the virtues of a liberal arts ("well-rounded") degree over a technical degree. Both have their places, practicalities, and problems.
Clemson will continue to receive their state money no matter how backwards and inbred their Board of Trustees is.
The professors and administrators will sit up there in their stagnant cesspools of "higher learning" like in most every college and university in the country scheming to sustain and advance one thing......... dependence on GOVERNMENT SUBSISTENCE.

It is the model and the goal of every level of our entire educational system.

I say cut off all taxpayer funding of education at the national level. Cut off the subsidies and tuition would necessarily fall through the floor.

No. She did it because the position that Darla Moore had on the board is a position that is at the discretion of the Governor. It can and probably will change every time we get a new governor.

Smart ass Bo. Other SC Gov. left Darla Moore right where she needed to be. On the USC board. Climpson needs a bit of work but she hasn't made the slightest move on that board has she? That is smart discretion on the part of other Gov. and stupidity on the part of your tater orange wearing tater Gov.
