This might have been posted but I just heard about it yesterday, the SEC ref who was the ref for the NC State Basketball game over the weekend who threw 2 former NC State players out of the stands for doing nothing and he could not even explain why, and he is not even fired, I mean IMO he should have been fired on the spot.

It was Karl Hess. I don't think he's an SEC official. He threw out Tom Guggliotta and Corchiani. He claimed that both were walking down right behind the scores table to voice their disdain at his calls. They claim not to have sAid anything inflammatory. Their seats are directly behind the scores table so it's not like they had to go far to get there.
I would suspect they said more than they are letting on. For his part Hess claims they were enticing the crowd over officiating. He earlier tried to have a student thrown out as well. The ACC has reprimanded him whatever that's worth. Hess is what I'd call a showy official. Like TV Ted Valentine he wants to be seen too much. He needs to tone it down. Nobody ever paid for a ticket to watch him blow a whistle.

Official announcement from the ACC said this ref "failed to follow protocol" when ejecting them. I suspect that might mean he didn't warn them first.

it means the refs should have gotten NC State people to do it more discreetly instead of calling over the police....and with that being said, why did officers of the law do what the ref asked if it was proper protocol?

Seems to me the removing party should also be condemned.

Karl Hess has called a few of our games this year. In one game he was beside the scorers table and a player threw the ball to him when he was signalling. Ball hit him in the nads. Hess yelled an obscenity that started with an F.

Sounds like he's a little on the sensitive side. Fans are gonna yell at refs. If he doesn't like it he should choose a different profession.
