Congrats to LSU on NOT landing GK. This kid appears to be a major head case.

not all of us are jumping for joy - its too bad his parents forced him to attend notre dame - can you say resentment. He would have done very well in the SEC

His brother transferred to ND and will get a scholly after sitting out a year. Bro would never, ever play at LSU.

We are fortunate enough to have several good Qb's (may be one great one). The may be great one is Mettenberger, and then two true freshmen that sat this year.

Honestly, I have been thinking he was a lite head case. Now it is looking like the Mom and Dad are backstage parents. Those kind never seem to workout. Fortunately we have a super young team and they did great the whole regular season.

His brother couldn't see the field on one of the worst INDIANA teams in its pitiful history. Which was the biggest reason the family became upset and Gunner switched his commitment to begin with.

I highly doubt his brother is getting scholarship to go to ND. If so, wow Kelly must be in desperation mode. I expected brother Kiel to head toward a D2 school.

no offense but nd has no business say sorry to lsu. we are ok. if he is as bad as you guys said he was, when he committed to us. he is not a big loss. go back 3 weeks and your board. he was an overrated, head case, with a set of parents that was going to be a cancer. I'm not saying this, I have no clue. Just repeating what ND fans said.

Nothing on the ND board about little brother being a tag along. He may be a walk on, as the Kiel family is well off enough to afford to pay for older brother to go to ND.

Notre Dame now has a history of landing top-rated QBs and will still be a middle of the pack program..Ron Powlus,Brady Quinn,Jimmy Clausen,Dayne Crist..and how wins against ranked opponents did ND get with these guys under center?

Slight difference between then and now is Kelly is laying a foundation on both sides of the ball. The freshman we brought in last year on d are 3 SEC caliber studs. It takes a few years to get the right guys in there.

No, Kiel's brother is not getting a scholarship. He can walk on at ND just as he could at any other school. Playtime is not really an issue here. He just wants to go to school with his brother. These "commitments" are a real joke. Although I'm glad we landed Kiel I'm also sorry that he switched at the very last minute leaving no time for LSU to recruit another QB or fill his spot. We just lost a lineman in the same way in a last minute commitment to OSU and a corner to FSU.

He obviously has problems and embarrassment must not bother him or his family, sounds like a mama's boy to me, now he's going to one of the most hated college football programs in the country, sounds like a good fit, the SEC scares some players off!

lol...Notre Dame fans... obviously russell was a decent college qb if an NFL team thought of him worthy enough of a first overall pick. there are a ton of great college players that dont pan out in the NFL.

both QUINN and Clausen are on track to being career back-ups to SEC qbs in the NFL..if both are even around next season..but that's not to say that Kiel WILL fail at ND. He may very well break all of Clausen-Quinn records combined..and still end up going to bowl games played only in December and sponsored by pizza companies..

It tells me that he was a really good college QB. JR completed 67.8% of his passes his final year at LSU, throwing for 3100 yards, 28 TD's and only 8 ints. Oh, in his last game against Notre Dame, JR was 21/34 for 332 yards and 3 TD's. LSU 41 - 14 over Notre Dame
