Les Miles is first class all the way

0 like 0 dislike

This year more than any other has helped me realize what kind of man he is. I'm very happy for my Crimson Tide but at the same time, I hate it for Les and your football team. It was a great season for you guys. LSU has some great memories and accomplishments for this group and one game does not define what they accomplished.

RTR, Geaux Tigahs.

Thanks 1137,

That may be the classiest post ever made on this board.

I have to agree. He was in an impossible situation and handled it well. I would like to think everyone on our side would have handled it as well if things were reversed.

I agree with your assessment of our season, and thanks. And if Nick had giftwrapped a championship for us, I would think he was a class act also.

When they interviewed him after the game right outside of your locker room, he just seemed contrite and almost inconsolable. I'm sure some of that was because he really wanted to win but after paying more attention to him this year, I also believe it was because he felt his players pain. He's a good man, it's as simple as that.

As far as the mistakes he made in this game, and I agree with you that he made a few big ones, I can understand most of them. If you'll put yourself in his shoes going into this game, what would you have changed strategy wise from the first game? His plan worked last time and if he had changed a bunch of stuff around and lost because of it, people would be ripping his butt today for it. OTOH, I would have made a few changes formation wise, had a back-up plan if the O wasn't working and run the ball more out of spread formations. One thing he did that I totally agreed with and worried about before the game was running the hurry up offense. I thought that was a good strategy because Saban likes to insert different players for different situations and our D would have been winded if it had worked a little better.

Ultimately he is responsible and he knows that. He should have put Lee in the game at some point because JJ was totally ineffective but by that point we were pinning our ears back and Lee has not done well under extreme duress from a heavy pass rush. I still agree with you though, he needed to TRY something else.

It wasn't Les' finest coaching hour to be sure. I thought it may have been Saban's best gameplan and overall team preparation ever.

Agree on Saban's game plan and McElwain deserves a lot of that credit too.

LSU will be back and will almost certainly be even better next year. If we can't get it done in 2012, I hope it's LSU who brings home #7.

The classiest thing LM did was not campaigning for Okie State. He could have crushed them in that game; however he wanted the two best teams in the country to play. My opinion of LM has totally flipped as this year played out. How he kept his team from being distracted with everything that went down this year is simply amazing.

Thanks 1137. Wish more of your brethren were as gracious. Hats off to Bama players and coaches. They really stepped up.

I was tempted to start a new thread just to be sure my thoughts would be read, but I'll just leave them here...

I've called LSU LSWho and referred to their fans as Corndogs...I'll continue to do that, but this season has changed my tone from one of derision to one of respect.

I wanted to think of The Hat as an idiot, a recruit massager, and a Gumpic manager of the time clock. But I have to admit...

I've become a bit of an LSU fan. Sh!t, I can hardly believe it, but it's true. Just don't expect me to substitute eaux for o. That's a bit much. Wink

Best of luck, Tiggers, in 2012 and beyond. Outside, of course, your beatings at the hands of the Crimson Tide.

Roll Freakin' Tide & Go Tigers.

Congratulations on a great season to Les and the LSU family. it was an honor to win the NC by playing a team and coach of that quality. Miles has provided me with a lot of enjoyable football moments and some good laughs over the last few years and, aside from Nick Saban, I think he is the best coach in the country. I absolutely loved the way Coach Miles handled Hebert's drunken rant, by the way.

I'm not sure Miles gift wrapped anything for the Tide, but it definitely was not LSU's night. Have a great off season Tigers and I can't wait visit Baton Rouge again in November.

I will go ahead and pile on. I have several times this year said if we did not have Saban I would want Miles. They are completely different but for some reason I like and respect both. They both get it done in different ways. I have always cheered for LSU except when they are playing us. Love your passion and tradition. Peace!

Im a fan of LSU because they play the same style of football that Bama does but to say you would like to have Miles as a HC if Saban were to leave is a little out there

Miles is a great person, I love his aloofness but I don't put him at the top

Noles fan here living in New Orleans. My obnoxious LSU friends made me hate LSU years ago, but Les Miles has def. changed that. I was rooting for yall to beat Bama, and it really pisses me off that some of your fans are throwing him under the bus for the loss. He stayed loyal to Jefferson who was the QB that got you guys there. Also, look at Lee's track record against Bama. Miles is easily one of the top coaches in the country, and a class act all the way.

Yes, bamafanner, it really is. To those capable of debate anyway.

Why would anyone bother debating with you? The day Miles cries and scream obscenities across the field at another coach for running up the score, which Patrino is actually guilty of doing btw, you might have something to debate about.

Nice of you to say, BF.
This year is one I'll still remember for as long as Father Time will allow.
I agree with you 1000%...-1.
That was the decision to sit Lee the entire game. In my heart of hearts that was a character call and he disappointed.
All the crap, some self-inflicted, Lee took WITH the way he stayed afterwards, gutted the situation out, guided LSU to an 8-0 record and conducted himself nothing short of nobly; deserved to at least have a shot especially when during the week Miles said both qbs were ready and would play. The game was out of control and Jefferson was lost (from 1st 3rd down when he pulled out before taking the snap), putting Lee in was the good thing to do to say nothing of the right thing to do if you want a chance to win. Jefferson must have pictures.

Bammerfan, why do you insist on posting on things you know nothing about? Is it just because you DON"T know anything? LSU doesn't need you defending them.
But since what Petrino had to say to to Miles is so important to you I'll remind you about the year before when we knelt three times in a row inside the LSU ten instead of putting up another TD. Won't happen again and that's fine.
Now concerning Bama and their Wal-Mart crowd of butt-cracks and back-boobs the percentage is all yours. It's called being the fattest state in the U.S. with the highest per capita welfare recipients. Besides, a portion of what you spend in Wal-Mart goes to the UA, thanks.

I happen to agree with you but I hate to second guess Miles here. We have the benefit of hindsight today and by that time our D was pinning it's ears back on the pass rush. Lee isn't great vs a heavy pass rush.

OTOH, what did you have to lose? Would a pick-6 have really mattered all that much? I can see both sides but Miles is a solid coach imo so I'll defer to him.

First off, I watched the game so how is it that you assume you know more about it? Did you watch more intently or something? I'm guessing with the lazy eye, you'd need a mirror to have both eyes on the TV set at one time, right?

Secondly, LSU kneeled the ball at Arky's 18 to end the game and ran the ball up the middle on the previous 4 plays to put Arkansas out of its misery. Arkansas continued to try to pass and score leading up to LSU's final drive when the game was clearly over so stop your whining. If poor Bobby wanted the madness to end, he could have run the clock out as much as possible while he was on offense but that's not what he chose to do. If you don't think LSU could have scored again at the end of that game, you're kidding yourself. They took mercy and you and Bobby are crying over how much mercy they showed? Poor you.

As for Wal-Mart, that's contractual or at least it was the last 2 years. The people who show up are typical Wal-Martians and you people have spread your Arkansas culture all over the globe with that company. Just a little piece of Arkansas available where ever you go.

What's better? Arkansas will never even get to celebrate their own title in one of those white-trash meccas. laugh

Hey listen up little Tiger's bitch. Do you post this much on your on damn board? If you do you seriously need to get involved in something and live a little. Paint your trailer or take that fat heifer you live with out for some exercise. Now no one was whining so lose that word when speaking to me. If LSU could hang 50 on us get to it. As for Petrino and Miles, they're grown men. I'm sure they can handle their differences. You brought this crap up and who knows why other than an inability to follow a conversation.
