Do you realize if we beat Duke Thursday....

...Ham would be the odds on favorite to win ACC COY? And it'd be his 2nd in 4 years? That'd be nuts.

I wish we could see a screenshot of this board from January 7th.

I think he should be the ACC COY win or lose on Thursday, unless we have a complete collapse the rest of the season. If we finish 13-3 or better and get back to the Sweet 16 or better, he should really have consideration for National COY.

Let me clarify, I still think he could win it if we lose to Duke. I just meant a W would probably seal it. Remember, Coach K hasn't won the thing in 12 years and his team is top 5 this year, so voters might be looking that direction. But if Ham sweeps him it would be awfully hard to give it to anyone but Ham.

Tony Bennett is also a legit candidate but I think it's Ham's to lose with a W tomorrow.

I'd honestly have no problem if Ham won it. He is definitely deserving. But, the talent differential between FSU and UVA are night and day. Add to the fact that Sene has been out for most of the year and Joe Harris has a broken left hand and Bennett should get serious consideration. If FSU wins the ACC, Ham should win it. But if FSU finishes 3rd and UVA finishes 4th, Bennett should probably get it. FSU has so much seniority and talent that they should be this successful. You guys have 5-star talent on your team. Our highest rated player, Malcolm Brogdon, is a 4-star true freshman. Add the fact that FSU has some REALLY bad losses for a team this experienced and talented and Ham's SEAL on ACC COY comes into question. Just offering an alternate viewpoint.

I agree Bennett has a legitimate claim to ACC COY, providing UVA finish up strong. I don't agree the talent level is so much greater at FSU. Snaer and Kreft are our only 5 star recruits. Snaer was probably a bit overrated due to the relative weakness of his recruiting class, and Kreft was years removed from his recruiting rankings by the time he first played at FSU. We've got more depth and size, but UVA has more basketball skill and shooting talent, plus UVA has a bonafide star in Mike Scott.

The only thing about Coach Bennett (GOAT last name btw), whenever and whoever he steps on the court w/, whether it's Duke or UNC, UVA has the best player on the court in Scott. He might have a bunch of "no names" around him but he's literally the best player on the court in a conference riddled w/ burger boys.

That alone will diminish what he's accomplished b/c it's hard to argue w/ having a talent gap when you have the best player in the ACC.

What might help Coach Ham win it is who he's beaten in conference, where he's beaten them and how he's beaten the blue bloods. If he sweeps Duke, then the road UVA game might be the battle for COtY in the ACC.

Fair points, but part of being a coach is player development too. Tony has taken a 3-star mid-level recruit and turned him into one of the, if not the, best players in the ACC. Not to take away from all the hard work that Mike has put into it of course.

We still have chances with UNC and FSU at home. We've played all the blue bloods on the road. FSU's win at Duke might put Ham ahead at the moment but the season isn't over yet either.

All I know is that it's great to see some teams outside of UNC and Duke compete for the ACC crown.

nole96, I'd love to see a screenshot of this board from 1/7 also. Fire Coach Hamilton, bench all the starters, prepare for next season, Whisnant should be starting, etc. People on here are unbelievable. Glad you are a true fan though. I love our basketball program. All of our athletics for that matter.
