Two questions about next year

0 like 0 dislike
1. Do we have an invite to an in-season tournament?

2. Other than UF and the Big Ten Challenge opponent, what teams do we have already scheduled OOC games with? Do we go to UCF, Princeton, UMASS or anyone that we played at home this year? Since the Big 12 dropped some teams, I wonder if we could convince someone like Texas or Kansas to schedule a home and home with us. I guess this would depend on whether or not Pitt and Cuse come in to league play starting at the end of this year.

Since we go from a 16 to 18 game schedule in the ACC next year it is going to change our OCC quite a bit.

Is that for sure? I thought Cuse and Pitt had to wait 27 months to leave, which wouldn't put them on schedule to start athletics in the ACC until the spring of 2014

In men’s basketball, the ACC will play an 18-game conference schedule beginning in 2012-13.

Here's the best I could find on all of the exempt tournaments, leaving out ones we wouldn't even think about attending (Great Alaska Shootout, for example).

Tournaments with ACC teams already committed:
Maui Invitational: UNC
Charleston Classic: BC
Old Spice Classic: Clemson
Battle 4 Atlantis: Duke
Paradise Jam: Wake Forest

Possible options:
76 Classic: No news on announcement. BC, VT, Clemson, and WF have been the past 4 ACC participants... this could be a possibility.
CBE Classic: Announcement on March 6th. There have only been two ACC teams invited in 11 years: Duke (2006, 2010) and Maryland (2007).
NIT Tip-Off: No news on announcement. I'd imagine the main competition here is probably either Maryland or NC State.
Legends Classic: Announcement in the spring.
Puerto Rico Tip-Off: No news on announcement.
2K Sports Classic: No news on announcement.
Coaches vs. Cancer: No news on announcement.
Gotham Classic: New exempt tournament in 2012. No announcement as of yet.

Not happening or not likely:
Cancun Challenge: Field completed, no ACC team
Hall of Fame Tip-Off: Field completed, no ACC team
Diamond Head Classic: We participated in the 2010 version of this, so it's not likely we would again two years later.
Chicago Invitational: Not the most elite fields, and I don't think an ACC team has ever participated.

Word is that UVA is potential team. However, Pitt is also expected to be in the preseason NIT so that can't happen if Pitt joins the ACC. One of us would have to back out.
