Not surprising Stansbury doesn't give UK credit at all

0 like 0 dislike
I was just watching his post-game comments. He never congratulated UK. He never said UK is a good team. He starts with the "moral victory" angle, saying that his team played hard and as well as they could play in the first half. Then he used the excuse that they lost a player as the reason they lost the game. He talked about the play where there was a foul on a 3-pt shooter where his team got the rebound as a big turning point. At the end he congratulated his own team for giving their hearts and souls in the game without a great player.

Now, look at Calipari's opening statement...

It's night and day difference there. Calipari is all class. Stansbury's attitude toward UK is ridiculous. His hatred for UK is clear and it's a shame because he's from Kentucky. I don't really care much to gloat about wins, but I'm very glad UK came back to win just to keep this guy from winning his national championship game.

Stansbury is so eat up with resentment and jealousy as to UK; it cause him to act and look like the pathetically weak coach he has always been. Pitiful excuse for a leader of young men.

I hope they lose out for the rest of the season.

Maybe if Stansbury could have his team play ever single game every single year like he has them play against us then he would be a happier man in life. It's tiresome seeing Miss. St. lose time after time every year to crap teams and then look like a top 10 team when they play us.

Stansbury was like his team at the end of the game. RATTLED. If he wasn't sitting down he would have tried to TRIP a member of the media or PUSHED them out of the way.

Exactly, Nintendo. If they play with equal passion against the teams that clearly have less talent (Auburn and Georgia for example) and win those games, then trying to beat us is not such a make-or-break situation for their tournament chances. Instead, beating us becomes the end-all, be-all for their season when they really have enough talent to be comfortably in the Big Dance and the game last night should have been to improve their seed instead of just trying to make the tournament.

MSU had Hood in the 3 previous losses leading up to this game. Why wasn't he the difference maker in those games? Stansbury is outclassed, outcoached and outrecruited by Cal and he has nothing else to offer.
Remember, it was to be MSU, Tennessee and Florida who were the "new" powerbrokers in the SEC when UK was down.
New boss= same as the old boss, Rick.

Thank Il for the post. It certainly is night and day. And on the night side, maybe that's why some of those kids have bad attitudes. Thank you Coach Cal for being so classy. FCC.

Stansbury's teams are usually very talented, and under perform all season.

Pathetic really.

It's all an act. Stansbury grew up a UK fan. He still loves the Cats but he can't show it or he wouldn't have the opportunity to be overpaid as HC at MSU.

Same with Horn at uSC. Big Cat fan to this day.

Jimmy Dykes? = Cat fan.

Hell, everdamnbody* is a Cat fan when they turn the lights off at night. We're just so darn likable.

If it's an act, he should win an academy award, because he has me convinced. 3dGrin

Yep. Just a poor leader. Gets good talent and then produces ishy results and it's all on him. He should get a young assistant with a clue and listen to him but that will NEVER happen.

Hey Nintendo, I've been thinking this same thing. Of course, I suppose it could be said for most teams we've played this season. It really is true that UK is everyone's superbowl, especially given the fact that the Cats are #1 in the nation and have been most of the year.

But Miss St is a little bit different, in my opinion, than many of the other teams we've played. They are very talented. I knew they were talented going into this game, but seeing them in a game made the point even more clear to me. They have talent. Sidney and Moultrie are very talented. Why in the world Stansbury can't get Sidney to get into game shape is beyond me. And Bost is a top notch point guard- could be one of the best in the country. They have a strong inside game. They have good shooters.

They should be a top 15 team easily. They played like one last night. But they blew their entire season with losses to Georgia (in Starkville), at LSU, and at Auburn (by 10??). Now they've lost 4 straight and are in need of winning out to feel good about making the NCAA-T.

But who can be blamed but Stansbury? These are his players. This is his team. Their attitudes and play reflect him. He has nobody to blame but himself. You can have a couple bad breaks, sure, but to lose 3 games in a row to those teams is not a bad break. It's evidence that the team isn't ready to play- maybe too focused on an upcoming game with UK??

Jealous, indeed, in spite of the fact that he's not exactly a lightweight. Stansbury enjoys a fine compensation package and a significant amount of notariety. Miss State is a football first athletic program, yet Stansbury is, and has been for some time, the most notable name in Mississipi sport. For some reason it just doesn't seem to be good enough for him. He's sort of a geographic oddity.

I agree 100% that every team we play brings their best game simply because they are playing Kentucky. However Mississippi State stands out the most as a team that plays their absolute best against us every year and gives us fits in the process. Reason being, like you said, it's because they are very talented. They should be no worse than the 3rd best team in the conference.

Remember in 2009-10 when Miss. St. missed the NCAA tourney after they lost in overtime against us in the SEC tournament? I remember listening to a commentator on ESPN talking about if Miss. St. had played all year like they did against us in both games they played us that year that they would be a lock in the tournament.

I guess what I am saying is I just get annoyed with how teams look and play like crap leading up to their game against us and then they look like world beaters. Mississippi State in particular is like this every year. I can't stand that team nor their fanbase, that's probably why it irks me so much.

This team(st) has a ton of talent and don't understand how or why they've now lost 4 in a row- they either have a huge chemistry problmen(blame crybaby- he's the one who kept big mama on the team)OR they don't have much of a coach(blame crybaby again)

Stansbury is probably sore that UK didn't offer him the job when Tubby left & when BCG left. By the way, I played against one of his asst. coaches in HS(Phil Cunningham played at Taylor Co.). They seem to be able to recruit well for MSU but they under-achieve every year. What was the name of the coach there in '96 when MSU was in the Final Four? He seemed to get the job done well & why did he leave?

Certainly it didn't help State's cause that they lost Hood after his injury, but does he not know that Kentucky also lost a player from their regular rotation when Wiltjer went out?

And I'm sure he doesn't have a clue that Kentucky played about the last five minutes of the game without their STARTING point guard in the game. How did UK ever win this game, could part of it be attributed to his poor coaching?
