Hurley had 1076 and an average 7.6 a game. Marshall has 505 thus far and a current season average of 9.8. In other words, if Marshalll keeps it up and stays four years (both are unknowns) he WILL pass Hurley easily - even if UNC does NOT go deep into March. Obviously the more games he plays the more he will have.

Hurley is the all time assists leader not just ACC.

Needless to say, we all want him to stick around.

John should come back, too, to work on the UNC block record - which won't be easy to break this year. What's the ACC block record? Would he have any chance at that if he returned for another year?

Henson needs 41 blocks to pass Haywood for the first spot on the UNC career blocks list (304-261 as of the Clemson game according to Tru Blu Tar Heel's thread at the top of the board, plus he got two against State).

Highly unlikely he'll pass it this year but he surely would if he returned.

Kendall Marshall - Career
---------------------------------------------------------------
505 Assists
*w/projected 10-12 games left, he'll finish the season w/ ~630 assists after 2 seasons
*Assuming 35 games played each during his junior and senior seasons, he'd need to average ~6.0 to ~6.5 assists per game to tie/surpass Bobby Hurley

Kendall Marshall - Season
---------------------------------------------------------------
275 Assists
*At current avg over projected 11 more games this season, it would put him in the 375 assist range, which would be 3rd all time NCAA for single season

3.62 A / TO Ratio
*This would be good enough for T-6th place all-time NCAA

9.82 Assists Per Game
*This would be good enough for 7th all-time NCAA

Assists - Career NCAA (Quantity) *4 of the top 5 are ACC alumni*

Looks like Tim Duncan is the ACC career blocks leader with 481. Not likely Henson would reach that even with another year.

When did blocks become an official stat? Was it before or after Ralph Sampson?

How cool would it be if we broke the single season NCAA assists record and the single season NCAA assist to turnover ratio record in the same season with 2 different guys?

Huh. I didn't realize there was a dude on Iona that's averaging over 10 assists a game.

So, my hope is that Hurley's record does stay intact. That said, I like how the record is skewed to the ACC. I think this reflects well on the conference.

Reflects one on the type of PG that the ACC has had, but also points to the guys on the recieving end of those passes.

Side note KM assist may suffer a little next year with out Zeller here, not that he can't be replaced but he and Henson shot a very high percentage. I can't see a Freshman being able score like him and Henson.

I could be wrong, but if Barnes and Henson are gone. McDonald and Bullock would prolly be our leaders in scoring and they don't need or get as many assisted passes as big men do, but KM could prove me wrong and make Macadoo a 20pt scorer and it would not surprise me.
