with all due respect to everyone, if you look at Florida's November schedule for 2012, we are the last school in the nation that can make fun of any other school's scheduling of weak opponents...it is shameful.

None of us can brag about our non-conference scheduling, but at least one of us plays a difficult conference schedule.

Seriously though, I'll pull off on harping on Florida State for this one, because it wasn't their fault. I'm sure there were very few schools that could have filled that slot this late.

In the future, though, they need to put another Oklahoma or a similar program on their schedules to get any sort of respect.

Alaskan, if you think FSU contacted all the "big boys" with the intent to schedule a game I have some land in the Everglades to sell you. The ACC was the last conference to release their conference schedule...every other conference and their teams save a few had their schedules set. At this point in the game they couldn't schedule FSU and FSU knew that. Heck the offer to OU was apparently to have OU play at Doak this year when they just played there this year. FSU and anybody with a clue knew OU wouldn't take that deal. They contacted the big boys to save face publically, not with any serious intentions. Like I said those other teams had their schedules set.

That said, this was clearly on WVU. Their shift to the Big 12 caused them to drop the game. It is what it is.

Savannah State does not equal SCAD--Savannah College of Art & Design.

Savannah State is like FAMU or Grambling.

hhmmmm believe the University or a random poster on the interzweb? ...okay, maybe not random (it is oozie after all).

Okay, the new story is (at least the one I'll now tell) FSU contacted 50 other schools in order to save face and nothing more.

btw, who paid for those wasted man-hours?

Alaskan keep your head in the sand, you do all the time anyway. Like I said save for a few schools, all the conferences and their teams had their schedules set. So FSU would contact them why? The chance that other teams would change their schedule to accomodate them at this point was zippo. No comment on the OU offer? FSU apparently offered OU a chance to play at Doak...again. Was that supposed to be a serious offer? OU just played at Doak and they're supposed to return there again? What a joke...they contacted those schools because they knew the possibility was zero. Then when those schools decline its "see, we tried to schedule a major team." The proof is in the pudding, Jimbo has made it clear he intends to weaken FSU's OOC schedule. That's not from a random poster, those were his words. I wonder if you'll believe those though. I doubt it...

At least when UF plays a I-AA team, they usually play one that recently won an FCS National Championship and regularly competes for them (i.e. Furman, Georgia Southern, Appy State, Marshall). FSU usually grabs the ones that regularly have losing records.

They expected all the division 1 schools to drop what they were doing and schedule a game in tally, had they chosen to take the show on the road they may have found someone other than Savannah.

Ooz, you are talking to people that still believe it was a complete and utter coincidence that the football players that cheated were caught immediately after the season ended and their bowl was locked up (read: check from the bowl was cashed)...not when the other 40 some odd minor sport athletes were caught.

Odds of winning the lotto? - 1 in 16 million
Odds of the "Football player" coincidence as described above? 1 in 30 million
Odds FSU fans will ever admit the situation was fishy? - ZERO

The tooth fairy lives large in Tally.

Brought to the admin's attention in March that cheating had occurred.

after the Admin conducted an "intensive" investigation.....2 football players were thrown to the wolves in August before the season started along with the other 40 something minor sport athletes....

The NCAA encouraged Admin to look a little harder. In a second sweep, 28 athletes, all football players, as I recall, were tapped....this "finding" occurred shortly after the UF game. SHOCKER! But nothing shady took place....nope.

How did this go from us scheduling a craptastic team to us cheating?

Did we cheat our way into Savannah State? Really we cheated, we got caught, timing was opportunistic and we got off lightly.

Now can we please go back to why we have to play the equivalent to Dante Fowler's high school without Dante coming off the edge?

According to Spetman, the biggest hurdle in landing a game with a Division I-A power was the fact that Florida State was unwilling to travel for out of conference game in 2012. The Seminoles were not going to travel due to the ACC going to nine conference games as soon as 2013.

Spetman also said that Jimbo Fisher was involved in the process of finding the replacement game and was updated as news unfolded.

"He's our football coach, he's a key part of what we do," Spetman

Wow...Anyone anytime, well not all the time and not anyone.

LOL ... that's like being an internet tough guy:

We tried to schedule big-name teams, but only if they would play at Doak without a return trip

Because when they can't beat your team on the field they are forced to come up with alternatives. We all have probably done that from time to time.

Dunno, ask Tampa. He threw a bone hoping no one would see they were playing Bowling Green, Jacksonville State and Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns.

I still can't figure out why ANY of the "Big 3" engage in this stupid round about.

scUM cheated. They got caught and paid the price.
UF cheated. They got caught and paid the price.
FSU cheated. They got caught and paid the price.

Fast forward a few more years and does it really matter "when" it happened? It happened. I bet these guys would claim a moral victory for getting a speeding ticket for only doing 75 in a 65 if they knew a Nole got one for doing 76. rolleyes

Sure you do. You based an argument on the the integrity of your school which has about the same amount of integrity as the hull of the Titanic. And we play a tough conference slate. The only way FSU has any meat to it's schedule is OOC. Jimbo has publicly stated that he is more interested in being a coward. That is on record.

And I answered it indirectly. Jimbo was there to lie to EJ and other recruits about the cheating situation. He has no integrity.

You don't have to take my word for it and I never asked you to. There is an interview out there you can listen to. Why is it you guys have so much trouble digesting facts?

And if you really want to know where you stand on this issue in relation to your brethren, Read some of Fan 1's posts about what he thinks about this Sister's of the Poor decision. He might even admit publicly to being the biggest blind, Nole homer on the planet.

Because you like to manipulate the facts to support preconceived notions. A lie insinuates something told to deliberately deceive another person--intentional harm. Such conduct should (and would) warrant distain from the person being lied to.

In the case you're describing, Jimbo divulged the info he was given from his superiors to recruits. Why is it a "lie" if that information turns out to be incorrect. Bottom line: You're confusing the term "lie" with "incorrect."

If I told you I was coming into a large sum of money soon and planned to give you a portion of it, but then some unforeseen circumstance prevented me from acquiring said funds, have I lied to you or was I simply wrong about the facts surrounds said windfall?

Alaskan I don't think you know who you are dealing with when it comes to this subject.

This is the infamous "HAMMER"

This guy had a 10,000 word thread about how FSU was going to get pounded back to the stone age when the sanctions came down.

The most amusing thing about this Anyone, Anytime thing is this. Oh, and by the way the Noles do the most to perpetuate it.

This was not a tradition. It was a means of building a brand. At the time that we started this type of scheduling to gain household name credibility NOBODY knew who we were. In fact for proof, when we went to play Pitt at Pitt they were hanging a Gator in effigy. We did not exist.

This was one of the greatest marketing campaigns in college football history and paid off greatly. The reason that this is not working for Boise as well as it did for us is that they want home and home. When you are trying to build your brand you have to be willing to do what others won't.

What most Noles need to do however is let this go. We have a brand. Which is the reason that when we are down it is still a big deal for teams to beat us. There is a reason that UF has not gone out of state or schedules the way UF does, they have their brand.

Jimbo has publicly stated that he wants more of an SEC OOC schedule. While that is great, and personally agree with, we are going to take heat for our in conference schedule. Noles you want to be in the BCS game regularly? Stop bitching, because I would take our situation rather than UF's any day of the week. Year in Year out we should be in a better situation to get there because of our crappy conference, and yes there are many semantics that can be applied. However, if we are the team that we as Fans want it to be all we need to do is take care of business.

And if I have to take some ribbing for the schedule than so be it. But damn Anywhere Anyone will die when Nole fans let it. Crap that was the 80's.
