Since UK has now won 19 games in a row

would you guys like to see them go ahead and win out and win the SEC tournament or would you rather they lose one game before the NCAA? I know no fan wants to see their team lose but in order to win the NCAA, UK will have to win around 30 games in a row. That's a ton of games. I have always been of the belief that very long streaks are hard to maintain. Sometimes a loss before a tournament/playoff might be good for a team just to get it out of the way so to speak.

Win out.

The pressure will be there in the NCAAT no matter how they finish the season. A loss is not needed.

If they were undefeated and trying to become the first team to do that in 37 years, then maybe that pressure would be more, but we already have our loss out of the way.

IF we're to lose just one more game it would be best for it to occur on March 10th. An extra day to rest and fume might be just what we need to win six games.

When are people going to realize that losing only teaches you how to lose. It is foolish to even think that a loss can help.

I was talking with a good friend yesterday about how we wouldnd MIND a loss at Starkville or in Gainesville, but definitely not at Rupp. Then the way last night played out, I was very happy they stayed composed and came away with the win.

Im not too sure a loss would maybe still keep their heads level and stayed motivated, but it wouldnt be anything if they went into NCAA without another loss. I dont think a loss at Florida would hurt us though...

I think we needed a physical team to push us but we dont need a loss. I would like to win out and hear the discussions on how this teams ranks historically.

No team in college basketball has won 39 games in a season correct? So let's make history.

For a young team bordering on confidence and ego, and sometimes obscuring that line, a loss can be meaningful. Calipari even said as much two weeks ago.

Is he foolish?

Win out. The idea of "needing a loss" is just nuts. I think the first half last night was the wake-up call the Cats needed.

Duke had won 33 straight games going into the 1999 national title against UConn

This team seems to have a "win at all costs" mentality with their eye on the prize and nothing else. I just don't understand how people think a loss, especially this late in the season, will help this team out? It makes zero sense to me.

A loss early in the season can be used as a teaching tool. A loss late in the season can be a confidence rattler. Exspecially with the youth on this team. The Miss St game was perfect. It had the feel of a "loss" for the most of the game but we still won. Basically after a game like that Cal can apply alot of good teaching moments without the team feeling to defeated. Also I think it would be better to lose to a team like georgia than Florida. If we loose to georgia it was a fluke. If we loose to a team like Florida then the players might mentally start questioning their ability.

Most of the time I would say no to a loss. After last night I'm not as sure. A first half like that in sweet 16 or after is almost a sure loss. Maybe they learned that last night but maybe they need to lose a game like that to get the message. Still, I'd rather win out.

Blowout wins over and over again can sometimes make a team somewhat complacent. However, with tough fought road wins like Vandy, Tennessee and last night at Miss State I think this team is prepped, primed and ready to run the table. No losses needed... just a tough couple games in the SEC tournament to get us primed for the Ville, Catlanta and then back to Blue Orleans. Coach Cal, Miller, Jones and Lamb will be the motivation needed to keep the guys focused. GO CATS!

As I posted in another similar thread, I don't think we need a loss to keep grounded or motivated. Nor do I think we need a loss to "learn" anything. However, I do believe the pressure builds when a team is on such a long winning streak. How a team responds to the pressure is what's important. So far we've responded very well. I don't want to lose a game before the NCAA Tournament, but a loss wouldn't bother me either.

They need to win out. I do not believe a late seaon loss does anything positive for a team.

If UK's to be the possible #1 overall seed during the NCAA tourney, there's no way you'd want to drop a game. That's not to say that even landing the top seed would prove advantageous for the Cats. The NCAA bracket committee can, and will, place the most formidable obstacles in their path to a NC. Losing a game from this point on will only compound the challenges of winning it all.

This team doesn't need to lose they just need to be pushed like last night.. They will now know that they better bring their full effort from the get go..

End of debate.

Odds are far better for a 12 game win streak versus a 31 game win streak. A loss would not hurt my feelings at all. Reset the odds. 3dGrin
