Looks like Temple is coming back to the Big East, probably for the 2012 season.

Kind of strengthens the argument that someone will be leaving the Big East about the time that Navy comes on board (in 2015).

That would be great for basketball, not sure about football. Their football has improved quite a bit since being ousted from the Big East but is that because of the MAC or did they really get better?

The only folks that have any joy in this are non-season ticket holders. The 4000 fans WVU brings to games will be replaced by the 4 Temple fans. Welcome back $10 tickets.

I'm more excited about Temple than Memphis. Check the last three years for both.

Louisville could be in the Big 12 by 2013.

A little bit of both, I think. Doubtless they got better under Al Golden and Steve Addazio. When we beat them 62-0 in 2006 (Al Golden's first year there), they were the worst college football team I think I had ever seen.

It can be argued that the Big East has gotten worse since they dropped out, losing Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Pitt, and with the decline of Boston College and Syracuse from strong football programs to irrelevance. This time, they stand a much better chance of being competitive.

Except I don't think it will be 2015. No way the BB schools let Temple in for all sports just to fill a one year void in the football schedules.

If they plug in the BE teams and keep their current commitments.....that's a hell of a schedule!

The expansion is for the purpose of football right?
Neither team grabs you in the collar but numbers don't lie.

2009
Memphis 2-10 no Bowl
Temple 9-4 Lost Bowl game 30 to 21 against UCLA
2010
Memphis 1-11
Temple 8-4 No Bowl
2011
Memphis 2-10 Bowl?
Temple 9-4 Romped in their bowl against Wyoming 37 to 15

2012 Temple had already scheduled N.D. and Penn St. They are at least trying to upgrade football. Memphis is KY Bteam. A basketball school that just keeps football around as an afterthought. And speaking of basketball...Temple is 21 and 5 this year and will probably make the NCAA tournament. Memphis is still on the bubble.
Again I say I DIDN'T STUTTER!

At this time, Temple's football program is in much better shape than Memphis. The Tigers' attendance has been terrible recently and it doesn't look like they've put much money into the program. With the move to a BCS conference and being a strong region in terms of recruiting, they could have a successful program if they invested the money.

And Temple is in Pennsyvania which is no sluoch as a recruiting area either. And with Penn St in a temporary decline, they come into the BE at an opportune time for recruiting. Their competition will be Penn St, Pitt, and Rutgers along with some of the ACC schools. Memphis will be competing against the SEC and the Big 12. I don't see Memphis winning many of those recruiting battles. Temple is starting from ground level at the least, Memphis is starting in a hole.

It is what it is and we take who we've got...but all in all, I see Temple as a better add than Memphis.

Topper, the point was that you could be excited about either one, not one over the other. It is not exciting.

I said I am more excited about Temple than Memphis, we get who we get and if I had to choose one it would be Temple. Hopefully Temple is our replacement because the BE knows we are about to leave. Personally, I would have added ECU as a football school only. They draw 50 to 60,000 every game and are serious about their football.
Go CARDS!
