Rick Pitino on UK

Question

On the SVP show, said that UK was in a league by itself, and that teams 2-20 are all in the same boat. He said the only way UK could be beat is if Anthony Davis got in early foul trouble.

Strange to see him pimp us like this. Unless he's just wanting to make it look bad on Cal if we lose in the tourney. You would think he'd be touting Syracuse because of their similar record and the fact they play in his precious conference.

Its the same thing I say to my UNC and DOOK friends. They should blow out teams, so when they lose, it looks that much worse. Same thing Ricky P is doing. Talking it up so it will look worse if we do lose.

He should know what it's like to be favored and lose. Just look at almost every flameout he's had in the tourney since he's been at Louisville.

What else can he say? It's the truth. If there's one thing Rick Pitino loves more than attacking Kentucky, it's being right. His ego forced him to tell the truth in this case.

I have to give the cards credit. They held us under 30% at home in fg. That is the best defense that has been played on us all year and they still lost. They also made 3 more fg and had only 7 more fouls on them, but we shot 20 more fts. We did outrebound them really badly in that game. If a competent offensive team can play that kind of defense on us and we just happen to be cold that day, we could feasibly get an unlucky L.

Yep. Contrast with Boeheim's comments last week about 10 teams being title contenders. It's all the expectation game.

I'm pretty sure he is not happy about Syracuse going to the ACC might have something to do with lack of respect for them. That said, he was telling it true as long as Davis plays it is going to be hard to beat us.

Got world beater talent, so, if UK doesn't win it all, it's bad coaching....I think that is why Pitino says that, all the while with his fingers crossed that UK gets beat.
