Computer expert question.

Trying to change internet providers and Insight is offering 10 megs all the way up to 50. I currently have 12 mbps with Windstream. Is the insight move a step backwards if I get 10megs? Are Megs and mbps the same thing, and you want the bigger number?
Thanks for the help.

There are MegaBYTES (MBps) and MegaBITS (mbps). 1 byte = 8 bits. Windstream and Insight are referring to megabits. What are you using it for? Streaming HD Netflix and such shouldn't need any more than 10 mbps really.

Yeah, same thing.

So it's basically advertised as two MPS slower than what you get now. Around 19% slower than what you're getting now for things like video downloads.

That said, you seldom get the full speed, so it would be interesting to see what you currently get and compare that to what your neighbors get on insight. There is a diagnostics tool online with Insight. I assume there is one also with Windstream.

I stand corrected. So King, 12 mbps is actually like 1.5 megs, right?
