And my boy Tatum had a superb night.

2-3 from 3 point land, 2-4 overall. 6 points, 4 assists, 5 R/Bs, 3 T/Os

Looks like coach had a heart to heart with Cam about his jacking up so many bricks and not being more patient and passing the ball a little more often.
Being an 11th year senior, Cam responded with maturity

Tatum actually played 7 games in his redshirt freshman year. So he is one of those rare players who are 5th year seniors and played five years. Tatum will wind up no worse than #2 on the Tennessee all time games played list with a chance to pass Chism for #1 with a few games in post season play. The fact he won't be in the top 10 in any other category tells you a lot about his career at UT. Of course it is Cuonzo fault according to Joe, even though 4 of his 5 years were under Pearl.

He is our very own Negadomus. Of course much like Nostradomus, his quatrains are always only decipherable after the fact.

One. Game. At. A. Time.

To hell with how a team trends...

I'm actually more optimistic that you guys. I don't think of the NIT as a success. Or even ncaa appearances alone. We could rule both sports if we had a little ambition with our hires....but derek dooley and cuonzo martin? Smh....

So your 'ambitious' negativism here serves exactly what purpose??

You've already proclaimed yourself smarter than any poster here, the football and basketball coaches and the administration that hired them. Other than raising your post count, what are you trying to accomplish??

I don't know anyone on this board who would consider an NIT or an NCAA appearance as 'sucesses' either, but if we could make either one this season, after being a preseason #11 conference pick, I would consider it a start to the rebuilding process that surely anyone had to understand was coming, whether Bruce stayed or whether we hired a high-profile coach. Even someone like Calipari would have had trouble convincing 1 and doners to come to a program under an NCAA cloud. UT lost 4 seniors ( Williams, Goins, Fields, and Bone) to graduation, 2 of whom were starters, and the other 2 who saw considerable playing time, and lost 2 other starters (the 2 best players on the court for the Vols) to the NBA early. That's losing 6 players out of Pearl's rotation, including 4 starters. And other than Tatum, Martin inherited a team with little experience. So UT lost all the offensive output from last season other than the 9 pts or so a game Cam was contributing. Let's face it; we can talk about Hamilton not aggressively pursing higher profile coaches, but UT wasn't exactly an attractive destination for any big-time coach who might have been shopping around last summer. Hamilton got a coach who was on college BB pundit's Top 10 up and coming coaches. As I responded to you a few days ago and didn't get a response, UF did the same thing when their AD hired Billy Donovan. He was not a big splash hire; he simply was considered, like Martin, and up and coming coach with little resume other than 2 successful years at Marshall and having been a Pitino protegee. And that 'poor' hire by the UF AD has only produced 3 NC game appearance for the gators and 2 NCs. I'm certainly not saying UT will get the same out of Martin, only that hiring someone who has pedigree but not an extensive resume as a 'big-time' coach doesn't mean it is a bad hire. In 3 years if Martin is unable to recruit at this level and UT is an NIT level team, or an early out NCAA team (which Pearl pretty much was other than the 1 Elite 8 year), then I will reevaluate whether Martin was the right hire. But as of this point, I still find it silly to pronounce him a bad hire. He could be the next Buzz...then again, he could be the next Donovan.
