And speaking DJ wanting Obama's

brother in law on the AD list. He was on the hot seat for his job when along came 17 mil in Fed. stimulus $ and he miraculously got a 2 yr extension. He's struggling to play 500 ball this season as most. DJ is morally unfit for his job, not to mention being unqualified. His firing will be OM's brightest day.

Jones is willing to hire an infit person to run our athletics in order to get some federal funds. His day is coming. He already knows he's going to get fired. He went to a donor meeting on the coast and told them he knew they were trying to get rid of him. Jones needs to quit playing politics with the Chancellor's position. The Chancellor should be neutral politically but he can do what he wants as a citizen. He's using his job as a political hammer.

Jones had the Democratic Governor nominee as his guest in the Chancellor's box at Rebel football games. He introduced him as the next Governor of Mississippi at an Ole Miss function with the Republican nominee present. He's digging his own grave.

You seem to be rather paranoid about this issue.

Calling me paranoid about political issues is like the pot calling the kettle black. I'm not the one all over the Rivals network talking politics and looking for a political argument. I don't think our Chancellor should be using his position to take political stances. What he does in private is his own business. Keep Ole Miss out of it.

Our academic ratings have fallen under his watch. That's enough for me.

Using politics for his self advancement rather than thinking of the University. He is in a position whereby he must do what is best for the U not DJ's personal gain. C'mon CPA you get it!

Actually, you are the one who brought up the rumor. Let's get one thing straight: Ole Miss has actually been the #1 UNIVERSITY RECIPIENT OF GOVERNMENT PORK many years, and is always near the top of the list. Not because of liberals, but because of Thad Cochran, Haley Barbour, and all their lobbyist friends in Washington, D.C.

And that's a fact, not a silly rumor.

Where in the heck did the Craig Robinson for AD rumor even come from. Is this just some psycho-crazy conspiracy theory. I mean can you really be more out in left field than this?

Obama will be nothing but a bad memory by the time we hire an AD.

Well it looks like this post started as a non-sports, non-Ole Miss post and it is very clear that zreb thinks that olemiss.rivals.com is a very different site than what the rest of us think it is. I recommend you take your politics to a site where people actually want to hear it. This is not that place.

No one on here can provide one example of Dan Jones being 'political' as chancellor. Taking the Democratic gubernatorial candidate to a football game and/or dinner or whatever means nothing. You're mistaking having a political opinion for bringing politics into his job. Everyone has the right to express their political opinion.

I seriously doubt that Craig Robinson is being considered. This is probably something made up by Forward Rebels to make noise because no one cares about them anymore. I hope we hire someone who is all ready an athletic director at another school, but if we didn't, Craig Robinson would not be a bad hire, actually. Head coaching experience, MBA in finance from Univ. of Chicago, tons of experience in the private sector managing major investment firms, and obviously a ton of PR opportunities.

I personally hope we go after an AD like the guy from Baylor or UVA, but we will probably make the 'yawn' hire of Sean Touhy.

I guess if Jones wanted to replace Boone with an MD and we discussed it here you would say the discussion is about medicine. IMO discussions about possible replacements for Boone are definitely about athletics.

... a transcript of Jones' remarks when they dedicated the rain water runoff collection area now known as "Silver Pond."

That's a stretch ranchreb. You and I both know this is a political thread horribly disguised as an Ole Miss AD discussion. Interestingly enough, Dan Jones has a MD degree yet the practice of medicine is never referred to in a discussion on this board, yet politics is grossly thrown out there. Neither has a place on this board as a basis for a discussion.

Dan is a much better FP than he is a chancellor. Actually, come to think of it, I don`t think DJ has ever practiced medicine. Dan is an OK administrator, but is in way over his head in this job. RK wanted a puppet, now he has one. Ole Miss is tough, so I pray that she can overcome anyone`s mismanagement for a short while if he can learn on his own rapidly without too many "suggestions" from past administration "hanger ons".

One of these days, people are going to wake up and realize that the primary motivation behind the "Forward Rebels" group and most of their minions has nothing to do with Ole Miss sports and a lot to do with Dan Jones' political views.

I'm afraid you are right RebHoo, but I think a general dislike for Pete Boone is a major driver for that group as well.

Anyone ready to get back to sports discussions?

I think F R was instrumental in moving Boone out. Hopefully they can do the same with Jones. Although their tactics can be troubling, sometimes the end justifies the means.
