Rumor is now that they won't be out today even though the WVU situation is supposedly resolved.

they were talking on the sports animal here in okc and sais one possible hang up is with OU. They were playing TCU at TCU this year and it was a non conf game. Now it is a conference game and OU has to pick up a non-conf game. Plus, the do not want to travel to WVU, but they would have had to travel to A&M...so....., that might be one reason why there is a problem with the schedule not coming out today.

Yep, I don't think that situation is resolved yet. OU and Rutgers met in January to discuss plans for them to play in 2012 which would replace the TCU game, but an OU insider is on record saying it's not likely. If it's not Rutgers, then it will be a crap school looking for a payout added to the schedule.

On the subject of schedules, I wonder what the thoughts are about what we know at this point. It seems there is solid information that Texas will get TCU and WV at home next year and OU gets them on the road. The interesting part of this is that they schedule probably plays out terrible for both OU and Texas. OU is set to have a brutal schedule next year, when they are on pace to contend with a senior QB. Texas seems to have a schedule about as easy as it gets next year, but it will be tough in 2013 when Texas is expected to be back in play. If the schedule were flipped for OU and Texas, it would be better for both. Oh well. But something good hear is that we're talking about scheduling difficulty in the conference. I think the conference has improved by addition and subtraction this year.

Hard to believe OU would be a hangup re:traveling to WVa. OU agreed to the 4-4 home/road deals with UT in Dallas. Can't believe OU would press even to go to Lawrence two years in a row ust to get WVa. in Norman first. Well maybe that's not too much of a reach but Baylor or K-State, no. And OU has played in Stillwater the last two years. Must be OU's problem with getting games sealed with the two stiffs that will come before the visit to Morgantown.

Yes, we know you guys are writing us off already this season. I think it's a mistake.

Not writing off Texas, but I think the consensus is that Texas will be better positioned in 2013 than 2012.

Since were finally certain that WV will be in the Big XII this season, there is one other thing to consider. I'm convinced that there will be an opening weekend match up on tv between the two new schools and one of the upper echelon teams this year. They will have to find two teams willing to play a conference game on opening weekend. They will.

Well, you were saying we should have the harder schedule this year since it presumably wouldn't make a difference anyway, no? I don't disagree that we'll be stout in 2013 but that doesn't mean we don't also have a very good shot this season.

Next year's schedule will help. Texas isn't "expected" to contend. But I won't rule them out of contention before they start playing. It's my opinion that OU, WV, TCU are more likely to contend because next year because I tend to go with experience and performance at the QB position. I completely understand if other people prioritize other areas and feel like Texas has a better chance next year. Bottom line however is that no matter how Texas performs next year, they are still set up better in 2013.

If the Big is planning on simply plugging TCU and WVU into the Mizzou and ATM places on the schedule, I simply disagree with that.

Since every team will be playing each other, it would be ideal to have the schedule balanced geographically. UT played both Kansas schools at home last season, and would play both on the road this season. A balanced geographical schedule would have every team play a game in Kansas every season and host the other Kansas school.

It should be the same for all other "out of state" schools when scheduled against the two Oklahoma schools and four Texas Schools. For this purpose, Iowa State and WVU would be scheduled partners.

Neutral site games could alter the locations obviously, but the home/visitor designation would be in line.

I believe Neinas hinted at this when he said the entire schedule needed to be tweaked.
