Recruiting Blues

It's very disappointing to see DGB go to Mizzou, Auburn reel in Jordan Diamond and Oklahoma State sign Seth Jacobs, 2 4 star players we could have really used, but those things happen. The Hogs didn't close very well this year but what else is new? The thing which I find most disappointing is the fact that we are, for some reason, unable to sign any good OL unless they are from the state of Arkansas. When you have a down year in the State for OL, like this year, Petrino just can't get any top centers, guards or tackles from neighboring states, much less nationally. I don't know if this is because the best recruiters on the staff are going after the WRs and skill position players but it is disappointing when you swing and miss on so many of the "big uglies" who are a crucial part of the offense.

Aren't you guys pretty young and deep on the OL? Maybe it just wasn't a priority this year. You got a couple of solid looking OL, and I would imagine that BP will make another strong push for OL next year. You guys are fine...probably going to be the SEC favorites in 2012.

Let's have some balance in the analysis of recruiting. First of all, we have some excellent WR in this class-not just one guy who may not end up being all that. We'll see. Secondly, we flipped two prior MO commits, one a top notch RB and another a solid CB prospect. Thirdly, we flipped an excellent LB prospect from TN. Third, we built quality depth on defense which was much needed. Fourthly, we were #12 in 2010-2011 and #5 in 2011-2012. Petrino has earned his credibility and we should TOTALLY support his recruiting tactics and decisions. It's been a long time since the Hogs have reached back-to-back seasons with this kind of success. HAVE FAITH!

I think everyone would have thought with our facilities, coaching staff and success over the last 3 years more blue chip recruits would sign with us. They are visiting but we just can't close the deal. That seems to be frustrating everyone and we wonder how long can this continue and stay competitive. Bottom line, we need to judge BP on wins/losses instead of recruiting rankings and forget about these bought and paid for recruiting services who have always catered to the teams in the bigger markets.

We have the best HC in college football, BUT the fact remains that for whatever reason the top studs would rather take a CHANCE somewhere else rather than a SURE THING with the Hogs. I don't understand it.

A quitter? I guess you haven't seen the terms in his contract regarding a buyout? I'll save you the trouble of looking it up...he ain't going any where any time soon.

I guess you didn't see his Atlanta contract-im guessing it was for more than 11 games? Just because BP has a contract dosen't mean he's going to honor it! Hello Oregon!

No offense to BP. He's a great coach, but Saban is the best in CFB. He's the most ruthless, for sure, but he's also the best.

I think we are going to be surprised/impressed at how much better we recruit with Paul Haynes, Taver Johnson, and Kevin Peoples. With more time to build strong relationships with recruits I think we'll see them haul in some real playmakers.

Your either a closet fan of the razorbacks, or your butt hurt over the success of my Hogs.
Is this the average OU fan? You girls are really scared and it shows by the scum of your fans plus coach, to tell recruits that Bobby is going to Oregon? Lol at you and your a$$ clown coach. Maybe someone will dig some dirt on Stoops and start using it against him. My horoscope told me today that I would some gay crap from a c--k sucker from OU. Well it looked like that came true! Thanks Ablowudad!

I believe the buyout for this past year was $18 million and it decreases slightly over the course of the contract. Do you really think another school is gonna pay us that much to get him?

Contract's are worthless to college football coaches-if a team want's a coach and he want's to go, schools neg. a buyout that both are happy with. It happens all the time-Surely we can agree on that!

Not many schools can fork out that kind of dough. With Nike's money backing them, Oregon would be one that could. Outside of them, Texas, and Alabama, I don't know if any other university could afford that kind of jack.

Over reacting. You are dissapointed we didn't get the #1 player in the country from out of state? A 4 star lineman from Chicago?

Listen to what caoch P says, not the recruiting services. We met our needs and are loaded for next year....

BP stated that their top priorty was getting a couple of Guards (Boyd & Ward), RB (Williams,Roberts & Holmes), WR (Hatcher, Cowan, Wilson, Hawkins), DE's (so many I want even list), DB's (Hines, Lowe, Collins, Buchanan), LB's (Turner, Peters & Vinny Boy). We filled our needs. Philon was a very pleasant surprise. We had a good recruiting year last year for tackles so Diamond would have been a luxary. As well as getting a 4* TE to return from last years class. Far as I can tell we had a great recruiting class. By the way, we got 2 of the top players from OK who both OK and OK Lite wanted in Hatcher and Robert

$18 million buyout if he takes another job that slowly phases down means he or his suitor would have to write an 8 figure check to get him out of his current contract. Don't see that happening any time soon.

OU fan can't go over and talk smack right now to Okie Light bacause
they got lit up by the Cowboys. So, he thinks he can come here and
throw smites at CBP. TTech beat the mighty Sooners and kept them from getting to Dallas where we would have bust their azz in the Cotton.

Come on Sooners, we were waiting for you, but you crapped in your
crib....to funny!

It all depends where you look -- we're 21st overall on another one (see link below). But what ACTUALLY matters is how they perform on the field. Our current group of seniors was not all that highly touted either coming our of high school, but when ESPN re-ranked that class it ended up 6th best overall.

I am more concerned about being ranked in the Top 10 (or Top 5 -- like now) after the season than winning recruiting beauty pageant. Since 2009, Texas hasn't ranked lower than 5th in recruiting, but how has that worked out for you guys the past couple years? LOL

I've never cared for recruit and class rankings, they're nothing but some guy or another spouting off his opinion. What matters is what those kids do on the field. Take the Longhorns for example, year in and year out thier recruiting classes are ranked among the highest but what have they really accomplished with all that talent on the field? If the recruit rankings was really all that accurate shouldn't the team's performance on the field match the rankings every year? Even with all that highly rated talent they have the same up and down years as everybody else, so it just seems to me ranking unproven high school kids is really just pointless.

So, they can run a website, heck I'll give you that one. They suck at ranking our football classes. They give bonus points for signing 25 players. They do not ranked based on a school's needs or if they do they can't figure out what the needs are. Your conference is dying and if the fans were humane they would go ahead and shoot it in the head. If your voters don't vote you guys twice as high as the rest of CFB voters, OSU doesn't make the BCS top 5. You guys are all fluff. I saw the same in the late 80S with the SWC. The big 8 is next. UT is a conference killer. You guys will hangon whinning for a few years but, you guys are done.

Shoot-dang, when is the last time Texas finished in the top 25? We replaced them in the top 10. And the fact that it takes 4 losses by them to get dropped out of the top 10 says alot.
