Wally: "Belichick left looking dumb by decision"

0 like 0 dislike
Really? Did he not understand the situation? He'd just let the Giants take a couple of knees and hit the FG? Really?

"don't ever ask your QB to do something he can't do." Tom Brady has three rings. Hall of Famer. He certianly can't win the game sitting on his butt.

And he said the game was "pedestrian". Compared to 90% of Super Bowls, it was a great game. I enjoyed it, and don't even like either team.

My rare decision to read his column was dumb. I'll admit that....

I use to read the Demo/Zette every day. I quit when Wally did his hatchet job on HDN.

compared to the rest of the country's newspapers, the DEMGaz sports section is actually pretty good. But wally adds absolutely nothing to sports page. He brings no insider information, wouldn't print it if he did, and writes about things anyone could. His articles need to be in the "Style" section.

I'm glad you cannot read it online without paying. You'd have to pay me to read Wally.

In my day, we had Orville. Nuff said.

LOL, Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.
In all seriousness, I have yet to meet a person who likes Wally Hall, regularly reads his article and thinks he brings anything of value to the paper. How does this man keep his job? I'd really like to know. I stopped reading anything he wrote many years ago.

Refresh my memory please. As I mentioned, I stopped reading Wally a long long time ago. I vaguely remember he and HDN feuding about something but I have no idea what Wally wrote about him. What was it?

The best confrontation, or lack thereof, was when he accused HDN in his column of playing badly injured players against their will, among other vague criticisms - as usual, he didn't elaborate on where he got his info.

Long story short, HDN called into Wally's radio show unexpectantly that morning and blasted him. I remember HDN saying he personally gave Wally his cell number so he could always call for clarification and direct verification of things. He wanted to know why he didn't call him about the story before printing it? Said he had never played a player that would further injure himself or didn't want to play and asked who he was referring to. He went on to hammer him for printing untrue stories and why he wouldn't just call and ask him.

Wally didn't say a word, literally. Co hosts said his face was bright red. May have left the radiobooth. Later he said he was "too mad to speak and stood by his story". But he had a chance to answer and debate him on it over the air, and Wally hid like a scared turtle.

HDN may go down as a goofball, but I will always admire him for calling in like that and facing up to a reporter he disagreed with.

Someone can correct my telling of the story if wrong, as it was heard on statewide radio, but it was embarrassing for Wally and I thought HDN did the right thing. Others don't I am sure....

If one of the Patriots had caught the tipped pass in the end zone, Wally would have been slobbering all over himself about what a genius Belichick was and what a gutsy call he made.

Thanks hob. I remember Nutt calling into the radio show and I do remember Wally saying nothing excpet "I stand by my story." I just couldn't remember what Wally the weasel wrote to bring all that on. Nutt doesn't like to be called out in public and this isn't the first time he called into a show to defend himself. He rang up the Finebaum show last year I think after he got blasted for oversigning.

Wally was a moron when I was in college in Arkansas (94-99), and I see nothing has changed. Terrible columnist. The best columnists base their opinions on the facts in front of them. You know the saying, "Don't let facts get in the way of a good argument?" That is Wally Hall to a T.

Funny how a man who has never even coached a football team is questioning the judgment of a man who has 3 super bowl rings and two other appearances.......
