What has taken so long?

I'm not sure about other conferences but I saw Mickey Plyler complaining about it a few weeks ago and he said the SEC released theirs back in November or December.

it's nothing new for the ACC to release them in Feb. each year.

MP is an idiot half the time and he knows when the ACC does this. Him acting like it's something new is nothing more for him to do than act like an idiot over it.

Well you are wrong it's always out before now. I just heard Roy on the radio complaining about it taking so long. The reason it's so late is because WVU backout of it's game with FSU

I don't think I'm wrong, I remember it coming out in Feb it seems in most years

and Phil Pot isn't much better than MP, he also predicted Clemson to win the Div. year before last, so he isn't much more than a hype machine in his own mind for Clemson

NOW I know I'm not wrong (thank you very much), I called the ACC office, you can also if you

think you or Phil Potty, or MP are correct, the number is 336-854-8787

the lady who answered the phone said they usually come out in the 1st two

weeks of Feb EVERY YEAR. She also said they were delayed this year

because WVA dropping FSU and FSU is trying to get a game on the

schedule for FSU and the date. She did not say when they are coming

out or if they are mostly complete but I would think they are 99% complete

and once FSU fills that slot they may or may not have to move any games.

But I think it'll be before the end of the month or 1st week in March.

Thats me thinking and not the ACC saying it. So I could be wrong on that

point

When I listen to CCP, I want to hear about Clemson from someone that cares or at least likes Clemson. That would be Mickey or Roy. James is all over the place and Walt is just a 3 hour comedy show. I assume the acc wouldn't release schedules just in case free shoe has to shuffle deck, but at this point they should count their blessings. By dropping that game, they will be plus one on wins in 2012.

Mickey didn't say it's later than usual.

He was complaining that it should be out- because the SEC, Big 10 (I can't recall which ones he said) had released theirs before Christmas- and if they could do it- the ACC should be able to do it earlier.

why??? because mickey says so

it's never been done that way, Feb is fine since the games are not played until Aug/Sept

if mickey doesn't like it maybe he should be running his own conf.

mickey is also a front runner, a few years back he was all Florida when SS was winning big, now he's not so much, just mp being his self impose know it all

you were the one with the smart ass comment as if YOU KNEW something, maybe you should actually know what you're talking about before you make smart ass commnets

and yes Potty is a hype machine, he also predicted our TE to catch about 90 passes year before last, he did not do that either

so the list goes on and on

and you can be a supporter of Clemson without the orange glasses and putting down things that have always been that way (schedule) just because you don't like the the commis (and no Clemosn fans does) just to make yourself souund like you know something.

I do to, but I'll bet Walt gets much more rigth about Clemson than either Potty or MP, he does because he's not a true Clemson fan and he doesn't make up excuses for poor play and makes them to be better than they are.

and for the record, I also can't stand Walt or Thurn-my-stomach.

I'm no Plyler fan but I thought his article about the schedule was pretty good. It made sense. Just because it's always been done that way isn't really a great excuse to me.

It seems like a fair point. Is it earth shattering? No. I've had a few Clemson friends complain about it.

Here is Mickey's article.

Dear Commish
I tried to call the house last night but Holden said you weren't home yet so I decided to write an email instead.

I know you guys are busy in Greensboro today, after all it was only yesterday that we found out that Duke and North Carolina would wear new basketball uniforms from Nike in one game each this season. I can imagine all of the buzz around the office today with your staff in a heated debate on which one is cooler? Hey, at least the environmentalists love the idea that they are recyclable.

I also know that there are only three football schools in the conference now with Clemson, Florida State and Virginia Tech. We only represent one fourth of the conference and less than that once you include those two super powers in football (Syracuse and Pittsburgh) in a couple of years. I never got a chance to thank you and Holden for that brilliant move.

The SEC makes their move with Missouri and Texas A&M. The Big 12 counters with TCU and West Virginia. Yet we get two schools with no geographic ties and bad football. But hey, at least they are basketball powers and at least U.S. News and World Report ranks them high.

But back to my main point, is there any way we could get a football schedule out this year before, say....August?

I know that Duke is more worried about Coach K's back now that he has a couple of losses and they don't have to worry about their students setting up tents outside of Wallace Wade Outdoor Stadium for football tickets.

I understand most Tar Heels are still worried you may tack on an extra year of probation for their NCAA troubles but lets face it, that will never happen. Still, no one in Chapel Hill cares enough about the 2012 football season. They just want to make sure John Blake is not hired again because Butch said the UNC compliance said it was OK.

But there are three schools that would love to get a football schedule soon. In fact, your conference is usually the last one to do it each year but you claim to be serious about football and the fans.

This year the Big 12 and Big East look like the ACC because they have not released their football schedules yet. The Big 12 says it will do so by February 1 but both leagues get a pass because they still don't know if West Virginia will play in the Big East or Big 12. I would say its hard to make out a schedule if you don't know who is in your league but what's our excuse?

The Big 10 has been out. So is the schedule in the Pac 12. The SEC added two teams and their schedule is out.

In the ACC we know who will be competing in football so that is not an issue but this is the case every year with your office.

The Gator Bowl does not need to know our conference schedule but don't you think the Sun Bowl needs to know sometime soon?

I compared release dates of schedules of the ACC to other leagues and other sports and yours is always the last. We can't use the excuse that we save the best for last. Remember most of us recall the bowl season every year.

Major League Baseball schedules 162 games for 30 teams. They have 2,430 regular season baseball games and their schedule is out September 13th.

The NBA has 82 games for 30 teams which is 1,230 games and their schedule is out more timely that ours. Heck this year because of the lockout they put together a make shift schedule in a couple of days.

The NFL has 30 teams for 16 games which is 256 regular season games and their schedules came out January 3.

The Atlantic Coast Conference has 12 schools that play eight conference games a year for a total of 48 conference games a year and yet we don't have a schedule yet.

The SEC released their 2012 football schedule and its 56 games on December 28.

The Pac 12 released their 2012 football schedule and its 48 games on January 4.

The Big 10 released their 2011 and 2011 football schedule and those 96 games in September of 2010.

Crickets from the ACC office in Greensboro.

Are we really serious about football in the ACC?

Lets get a couple of computer geeks from Georgia Tech to figure out a complicated program that would schedule those 48 games each year. There has to be another Apple product not in use somewhere in Greensboro.

Each year we wait and wait and wait. I fear that when the football powers of Syracuse and Pittsburgh join the league and we have to actually schedule 56 conference games then we might not get the schedule out before the summer.

Maybe when you and Holden get back from the long weekend in the Outer Banks you guys can get us Tigers, Seminoles and Hokies a football schedule. The other nine schools won't care if you just tell us ours.

Once we get ours you guys can go back to debating what to do if Coach K's back goes out with 14 seconds to go when UNC is blowing them out in the Dean Dome.

Or if you want to wait then I am sure the Big 12 could grind out a schedule that included Clemson and Florida State. Where do we send the $20 million dollar check?

No smart comment or didn't mean it that way.

The football schedule is always out before now.

It's the middle of feb. so if they lady told you it's not late!!! she is either new or trying to cover for swofford.

Walt is a jerk period

sorry I took it as a smart ass comment. I doubt the lady was covering for anyone but only telling me when they usually come out and why there is a delay this year. She did not have to tell me anything since it's really none of my business but she did. I also think from the past her comments are correct and I'm sure if anyone thinks differently call the number and talk with her or someone else and they will answer your questions. I was surprised she answered my questions and unlike MP who said he could not get an answer, probably being his usual smart ass, I got one by being curtious and asking for information. she said usually in the 1st two weeks of Feb the schedules come out, it's the 15th and to me it's not late but she said it will be later this year because of FSU

and it has always been in Feb.

to the Coot fan

I don't care what the Big 12, 10 , East or anyone else does the ACC is not those conf. and they should not be the measuring stick to the ACC when it comes to giving out schedules.

Why is it so important to anyone other than the schools and I would bet most all the schools know the schedule for now and know that a few games may be moved depending on the FSU game. It might affect 3 schools 5 schools 0 schools but I'll bet they know pretty much how it going to be and the public has no need to know until it's finished. IF I were the ACC I would give MP no response since it's none of his damn business.

we all know the ACC puts basketball 1st, football 2nd

but I don't think the timing of the schedules says a thing about how important football is or isn't to the ACC.

You know you could look at it just the opposite and say football is more important to the ACC than the rest because they are taking so long trying to get it right and FAIR for everyone. You could look at it that way but I doubt you will or most want to.

I had the same question. Orange must be mad at the world.

I simply asked what was taking so long (I didn't care what the ACC normally does, the fact of the matter is it's Feb and their schedule isn't out. I know people that can't put in for any vacation days anymore for this year so if they wanted to make a long weekend around a game, they are out of luck).

I don't care for Plyler either- but I thought his column was funny.

Again, I didn't say anything about it being important or not important. Mickey Plyler said that.

I simply asked what was taking so long. Since you've proven the ACC always does it this way- the question can be rephrased slightly to " why does it take them so long.'

That question is open-ended, not directed at you.

I just don't like MP, it's me, and I don't mean to come off on anyone else over something that dumb ass says

Vacations????? over a football game, I think most have taken vacations by Sept. and most companies are off on Labor Day weekend

but vacationing around a football games has little or no affect on me and I would guess about 99% of the fans.

but it may and they have handled it in the past and they will this year

You would be surprised how many people take vacation in football season.
don't be so closed minded that just because it doesn't effect you that it doesn't matter to others.

People travel along way to see Clemson even home games. All fans don't live in Clemsons back door

It's not just vacations. It is pretty easy to arrange trips 6 months or so out. It's things like weddings and family reunions. Events where people rent or reserve other venues. They do not want to conflict with game days, and especially not big games like fsu, gt, etc. When you are having other life events, you have to look at the big picture due to cost involved. While my wife if we had gotten married during football season would have cared less if she missed a game, she would have cared if 25-30% of the people didn't come because they were at the game. It is expense to pay iptay dues and buy tickets. When people do it, they do not want to miss the games.

while those things may be true, and I've never really heard anyone say a game would interfer with important things concerning family or friends, they have had plenty of time in the past to make arrangements for those things, and the schedule has always been done in Feb.

This year it seems to be later. But I think if you polled the entire season ticket buyers 90% of them will not be affected by the time frame the schedule is released.

For those it does hurt, well thats to bad, but many of us miss games because of conflicts that arise after the season starts or schedule are set, and life goes on. It's only a game.

But I see what you're saying, I just don't think the ACC is behind other conferences or ahead of them based on something as minor as a schedule. Thats just comparing conference and not saying it does not affect a small percentage of fans.

The acc has glaring deficiencies in administration and management from favoritism to officiating to the commissioner.

I have a family member that is getting married next fall (originally in the summer but some things came up) and she told my wife that she will have to plan around football season. - not for immediately family members because they will be there- but for friends she hasn't seen in several years.

She doesn't want to schedule a wedding and invite people when she knows it will cause them to miss important things in their own life.

I schedule a camping trip for a group of guys at my church every October. We take our boys for a weekend away- usually somewhere in South Carolina or North Carolina. Every single year we try to schedule it as early as possible - in fact last year we scheduled it a year ahead. We check the Clemson and football football schedule every year and try to pick a weekend where both teams are away because if we don't- we get about half the participation- and we have a large group.

It's obviously not the most important thing in the world - but it is important to some folks.

A friend of mine is a firefighter - and they have to put their vacation time in by dec 31st. He takes a summer vacation but also has takes vacations at other times.

It happens more than a lot of folks realize.

maybe you can give an example of me raising cain over something.

and it is just a game, regardless if I or anyone else gets upset over the outcome, but I don't let a game determine my life or how I schedule my life.

so come on and give me an example since you know me so well especially where I am the 1st one to stand up and raise cain or are you again speaking before you actually know what the hell you are talking about as you have already done in this thread

I said before I think the universities already know the schedules but also know a few dates may be moved for several teams but they have to wait to see how it plays out.

It may affect one or two or 3 teams but no one know which teams it could affect.

since Clemson can alrready post their OOC game dates. If they did not know they might not be able to confirm these dates because of the conf. schedule. But it seems the conf. schedule will have no affect on Clemson and it's OOC games like it must have with FSU.

I really think you have me mixed up with someone else.

I probably have at times had some negative things to say about Dabo or any HC at Clemson but I have been more of a Dabo supporter than with any of the HCes at Clemson.

One of my biggest complaints with Dabo or OC has been to many times, before Morris came, they would throw the ball 6 yards when they need 10, or they never run the 2 minutes offense worth a damn, or they might not be very strong on the OL when they need a yard and can't get it.

But I've heard and seen 100s of fans say the same thing.

I dont really think I'm a big Dabo basher and I think you have someone else on your mind other than me.
