Orlando columnist Mike Bianci provides us an inside look at a basketball coaching hire by Dave Hart when he was athletics director at Florida State.

Coach Leonard Hamilton failed to get FSU to the NCAA tournament his first six years, and fans, boosters and the media wanted him fired. But Hart, now AD at Tennessee, stuck by his man. And Hamilton has his team en route to its fourth straight NCAA tournament.

Yes....let's go 6 straight years of no tourneys under martin in the name of "patience" then hope we have a flash in the pan season that will somehow justify keeping him. It's brilliant! Maybe we should've held on to buzz for ten more years because he might've gotten us to the ncaa once! I love it!

No the point must obviously have been that we should take an article where an AD is bragging on his own hire as proof we should give a coach an infinite amount of time to show a pulse (and this season isn't even over yet).

PS - we've put a lot more into bball than FSU has. No excuse for us to ever go 6 yrs without a tourney appearance. None.

pearl's guys are gone, and we have to rely on the two classes of recruits cuonzo has signed. How you think that team's gonna do?

Well Mr. Crystal Ball, Butler didn't sign any players as good as whath Cuonzo has signed and over the past 6 years and they made it to the title game two years in a row. Good thing he didn't rely on the two players that Pearl signed, as neither could get into school anywhere. Your constant rush to prove your ignorance is amazing.

Me thinks you're purposely shifting the argument. Nobody is saying it would be ok for Martin to not get UT to the NCAA for 6 years. I agree that there is no excuse considering what UT has invested in BB since Hamilton hired Pearl. But you declared Martin a bad hire 8 games into his first season. That was DB's point w/ the article, that fickle fans such as yourself would have a revolving door w/ coaches coming and going annually if you got your way. Fortunately, our AD has better sense.

Or do you think you could throw a complete roster of players up that UT will have in 2 years? Now there's some typical Joe..cynical about recruiting classes BEFORE they've happened.

Also, if they are like some he's already brought in(playing as Fr and not afraid to mix it up) they should be fine.
