I guess he just figured out that you cant throw 20 yards down field on almost every play and win the SEC.

Having a good punter and a reliable Place Kicker are an asset.

Or Not giving up the Big Play on defense is a key to success.

Whatever the guy was making, he should have his salary doubled for such profound coaching wisdom.

And just think, it only took him 3 years to develop that wisdom.

Dont forget that you have to score more points than your opponent to win. Or that W and L are the only stats that matter.

It is hardly Chaney's fault if runners can't run and blockers can't block.

It is if he didnt spend an appropriate amount of time developing it or practicing it. Thats according to Coach Doug Matthews who spent a decade coaching at UT and who says the talent is there and its just a matter of "want to" from the coaching staff.

Chaney/Dooley determine the type of offensive scheme they want to run. The OL coach then teaches the OLmen the type of blocking scheme. From what I have read, because Dooley and Chaney believed as early as spring practice that the passing game would be the offense's strong suit, they had Heistand focus morfe on pass blocking schemes. I don't think Dooley necessarily wanted that, as he is a run first/pass second coach of the Saban philosophy, but I think he and Chaney knew the pass blocking would be easier to teach the young linemen. I fully expect the offense's emphasis in spring and fall practices to be on the running game. We've got an RB coach, we should have a pretty good stable of RBs. I think the running game will be successful, especially w/ the weapons Bray has to throw to that will loosen up the defenses we face front 7s.
