Lake of the Ozarks

0 like 0 dislike

Hopefully, I am in the right spot to get some good information.

I am planning a trip for a group of people (6-8) to hit up the Ozarks during the Summer. But I am an amatuer and I want to make sure I am doing it right.

Any tips for a novice? Party Cove tips? Cabin rental suggestions? Good nightlife? Casinos in the area?

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks!

First thing you need to know is boat size. DO NOT GET A SMALL BOAT! I'm serious, the waves out there are huge from all the boats driving around, you're gonna wanna go in and get at least a 25 footer. Party Cove is fun, but it's mostly for college kids, it can get dangerously overcrowded too. There's not much night life to be honest, the night life is on the lake and at a few of the bars that are off the lake. If you plan on skiing or wakeboarding then I'd scout out a small cove the day before because you can't go out on the main channel and do that.

I keep seeing things referenced by mile markers.

Are certain mile markers areas more convenient to towns/bars or to marinas for Party Cove?

Start with link below.. Mile marker 0 is bagnel dam.. Mile marker like 70 something is Truman Dam.

Most action is between the 1 and 40.. Lots of on water places to eat. TONS of places to rent, try www.imdb.com

Its a good time but can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. Have a Condo at the 6 Mile marker and it can be very rough. If you wanna party go on weekend, if you wanna explore the beautiful lake go during the week..

Good stuff. Thank you!

I think the plan was to charter a boat for a Saturday to hit up Party Cove. I hear thats a pretty typical thing to do since the drinking laws are really strict. Is chartering a boat inexpensive? Do a lot of people do it? Any companies you recommend?

My personal opinion would be to rent a party boat and go and park in one of the coves of the Gravois arm. At mile market 6
