Top To Bottom The Big 12 Is Stronger Than The SEC....

Question

Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss. State., Vandy, Tenn., Georgia, Auburn? Give me a break. The SEC talks bigger than they are & the BCS builds them up to be a monster that they are not. Let the best of them play a Big 12 schedule and they would sit in the stands with their big mouths wide open. WVU is proud and honored to become the new member of the Big 12. And, OSU should be in the big dance against LSU. Bama had their chance with the Tigers and lost. The MNT is just another fine example of how the current system doesn't work!!

We played in the big 12. We know its a tough conference, unlike the Big East.

8 teams (out of 10) in the Big 12 would have won the Big East. If wvu were in the Big 12 they would never have sniffed a bcs bowl game.... ever.

kansass (0-9 in Big XII), TCU (never played against the big boys), WVU (nice game against Syracuse), Iowa State (played ONE good game), Texas Tech (wishes they didn't fire the Pirate).

Compare that to your list that contains last year's national champs and this year's east division winner. Also on that list is Vandy who played a competitive game against your peer Cincinnati and Tennesse who has one of the best winning percentages of all times in college football and a 102K seat stadium.

We really don't have any ill will toward what remains of the Big XII. Good luck. But do you really think we would leave for the SEC if the Big XII was better?

The saddest part of all of the OSU talk is that Arkansas would beat OSU by 14 points.

Arkansas is way better defensively than OSU and only slightly less offensively (because they do not run a hurry up and increase the number of possessions (plus play other hurry up teams - which drive up the number of possessions).

Arkansas would beat OSU 7 out of 10 times minimum. Arkansas is a step above OSU. However, Arkansas got trucked by Alabama and LSU. That's the best comparison I can give.

Gundy can say people would rather watch LSU/OSU and the game be 39-36 than watch Alabama/LSU 9-6.

However, if he thinks they would crack 20 points against LSU or 17 against Alabama's defense he is crazy.

After the game last night OSU said Stanford had as good a defense as they had played all year. Really, a team that gave up 53 points to Oregon (at Stanford) is a good defense.

Even when it gets rolling against you - you should NEVER give up 53 points in a game (unless there are multiple overtimes.

Stanford is a gritty team with a great offense - but, that defense is beyond terrible. And their secondary and coverage guys are as slow as they come.

Also, the NCAA has to do something about the 28 year-olds playing college football. We went down this path with Chris Weinki (sp?) at FSU. You should have 5 years from when you finish high school to play college football (all positions). But, at QB it is truly an unfair advantage. The guy is older than 25% of the NFL starting QBs.

And thats cool pointing out that Auburn beat WVU just a few years ago but to leave out the fact that WVU beat them in Morgantown only the year before is real lame smack. West Virginia is still in the Big East. That release has not been given yet.

If you think Texas and Oklahoma are being wallflowers, go ahead. My money is they are negotiating with the Pac to bolt in time for the 2013 season.

(Probably shouldn't even mention that WVU beat Florida 26-6 in the 1981 Peach Bowl, but, oh well) Mizzou can only hope to go 5-3 in the SEC in your first year, or second, or 3rd...etc..etc...! Actually the beltbuckle network is their parachute. If it begins to make money, they can leave the conference without it impacting the $$$ they make there. Tier 3 money wasn't attached to the "handcuffs". If it fails, they could convert it to a Big XII network and market it to the 37 million residents of the conference footprint, or as a regional channel which would hit about 83 million with the inclusion of Texas. Which would make more money I wonder? As for OU's network, I doubt that is much of an anchor as no $$$ were discussed. And actually, the last I've heard, OU and Texas have yet to sign the agreement forfeiting television money. A benefit of being one of the big boys.
Your hope is that Texas Tech and Okie Lite are big enough anchors that Texas and OU can't leave.

Hmmm, WVU is joining a thinned-out conference hanging together by figurative strings. MU is joining a conference where 9 of the current 12 members have won MNCs in football, including 5 of the 7 you've listed. Of the 8 remaining Big12 members, only TU and OU have won MNCs.
