greetings Tigers, need help with a hotel in Columbia....

0 like 0 dislike

first off, welcome to the SEC and congrats on the dominating bowl win. should make for an exciting early season match up between the Dawgs and Tigers (hopefully, we win our bowl game to add to the excitement).

Some friends and I will be attending the game and were told we should stay at the Tiger hotel downtown (we would prefer to be as close to the bar scene as possible). First off, does anyone have the phone number [[edited- found the phone number]]? we can not find a website or a direct phone line. the phone numbers we have found are disconnected. second, if this is full where else do you suggest or is there somewhere we should try and book ahead of this one? we made reservations at hotels close to the stadium as a back up, but like i said we would prefer to be downtown.

thanks for the help.

I like your dawg.

Unless things have changed, you don't want to stay in a hotel downtown. The only one I remember down there was absolute crap - even college kids thought it was sketchy. Columbia is not a big town. Taxis won't add that much cost to your trip - especially if you stay by the stadium.

I'm never staying in hotels when I go to Columbia, because the drive in from St. Louis is only 2 hours, so I'm not the best person to ask, but if I think the hotel on Providence near the Stadium is relatively new

Ask on Tigerboard.com. That site has a ton more traffic than the free board here.

I don't believe you can rent rooms in the Tiger Hotel yet. And there's no other hotel downtown.

Your best option for "close to the stadium" is the Hampton Inn & Suites on Fellows. It books quick, and football weekends see a price bump. You may also be required to book two nights on a football weekend. But it's a new hotel, and the accommodations are good. If that doesn't work, try the Stoney Creek Inn off of Providence. It's somewhat close (though not really walking distance, like the Hampton), and the accommodations are good there, too. Beyond that, you're looking at hotels on either Hwy 63 (Courtyard Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn), at the 63/I-70 interchange (Wingate, Staybridge, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Fairfield), or near I-70/Stadium (Holiday Inn Executive Center, Drury).

All of the hotels I've mentioned above would be sufficient quality. I may be overlooking another decent place or two. Generally, I'd avoid anything along I-70 that I haven't already mentioned. Book early, as the good hotels fill up here quickly on home football weekends.

thank you. we booked a room at the Hampton Inn and the Tiger will let you, but you have to pre-pay now, which is the major drawback.

If you get a room @ Tiger Hotel you will be right in the middle of the bar / restaurants of downtown...but most other hotels will only be an $8-10.00 cab to downtown.

Cabs are cheap in Columbia, stay wherever you can get a room and cab it, the local police are big on DWI's...

Columbia is a blast, great college town...make sure to hit Harpo's before or after the game.

Can't wait to welcome you to Columbia!

Be sure to walk around the Quad -- I'm prejudiced but I think it is one of the most beautiful spots on any college campus.

Isn't the town already sold out of rooms for all of the home games?
