Kinda Sucks that it looks like LSU and Mizzou will rarely play.

Personally, I don't like the idea that it appears that if the new "long term" schedule released in 2013 includes a "permanent opponent" for every team, teams like LSU and Missouri won't play but one series a decade.

I know teams like Alabama and Tennessee and Auburn and Georgia have traditional rivalries they don't want to give up. However, I think that for the good of the whole conference, the SEC needs to go with a 6-2 rotation and not a 6-1-1 rotation. I think each team should have 2 rotating opponents from the other division in lieu of 1 permanent and 1 rotating.

A 6-2 rotation is probably not likely but it's what most teams want.
As an LSU fan, we would have to give up our annual game with Florida but I'd sacrifice that game to play every team in the east 4 times in 12 years instead of 2. The way I see it, it really doesn't make sense to only play a team 2 times in 12 years. As an LSU fan, I hope the SEC changes to the permanent 6-1-1 rotation.

I agree with you, would love to make a trip to Baton Rouge more often then once a decade...if the conference goes to 9 games in 2013 and doesn't expand to 16 in the next 2-3 years, will probably see you sooner...if conference does go to 16 and has the 4 team pod system, MU and LSU might be in the same pod but if not, we would still play every 2-3 years.

I'm with you too. I would like to see more of the west division teams sooner than the current system would allow. The only thing that would worry me about eliminating the permanent cross division rival would be Mizzou not playing an SEC game in Texas on a regular basis. Having aTm on the schedule every year will make the recruiting transition easier for us i think, until we can set up some inroads in the southeast. But its hard to complain when youre the new kid on the block I guess.

Try a 6-1-2 rotation that will mean extra $$$ for the SEC network. I'd be willing to bet that we could earn $40m a year in TV dollars per team if this network is set up correctly and worked into basic cable packages.

Its not so much who you play during the season since almost all SEC games are played in front of packed stadiums. Getting to the SEC championship game is every teams goal because if you win that you're probably gonna be playing for the MNC. The SEC splits all bowl money which is a large payout since we usually have 5 or 6 teams in major bowls and 3 or 4 more in smaller bowls. The millions will start rolling in soon.

I don't think we will be making significantly more in the near-term joining the SEC. My expectation:

- We are making about $2MM more in base TV revenue
- We are paying off ~$15MM exit fee to the Big XII (I've heard anywhere from 13-23 and I think we will be toward the low end.)

That doesn't sound like a great financial deal, BUT

- Mizzou donors have stepped up. Rumors are that just a couple of large donors put up somwhere between $50MM-$100MM that was contingent upon a move to the SEC. The little guys are giving more too. That will probably amount to 2-3MM more per year.
- Season ticket sales are going to go up. This year we only had one key matchup at home (Oklahoma State) and one big name who wasn't very good (Texas). Next year we will see Georgia, Bama, Vandy and UK come to town in addition to Arizona State. That is a much better slate for attracting season ticket holders. Plus, there will be Bammer fans who buy the season ticket just to get the guaranteed seat for their game here.
- With a true SEC network like B1G and PAC have, TV revenue is going to go up.

Add it all up and there is certainly more money there for us. But most probably aren't thinking about our biggest benefit: increased exposure and higher profile. Mizzou has always been a program with great potential. We are finally getting to the point where we have the tools to compete in the big time.
